The management have always promised lots of training and advancement but it's very difficult to get them to follow through. The management based in the offices have no idea what actually works well on the warehouse floor and make decisions without speaking to those it will affect
Pros
Ok for someone not interested in training or advancement
Cons
Poor management

This company is an absolute shambles..full of supervisors that quite clearly don’t know what they’re doing, you can tell they’ve never worked in a management position before from their unprofessional attitudes and the way they like to victimise and bully people below them, I think it helps them get through their boring lazy days at work, bless!! Job security is great if you manage to stay longer than your 6 month probation as they constantly threaten to sack you, so best of luck if you’re thinking of working for this company, especially if you’ve got a family to support, it really isn’t worth the stress! Break times are decent...Just make sure you don’t have a single minute over it as the supervisors and team leaders time your every second from the moment you log out of the system! Overall this place is full of empty promises and disappointments I would stay well clear!

I'm a current SM and have been promoted. I have to say the people around me are amazing. Given the opportunity if you prove yourself. The pay is good.
Pros
Company has improved since starting 3 years ago, great team, no time wasters
Cons
A lot of responsibilities as a SM, long hours.

I have worked at Sally for nearly 9 years and progressed through the company to a high turnover store with decent salary. This job is not really for people who are lazy or not interested in hair & beauty. There is a lot of training to complete that you need to fit in around customers. Like most retailers you're expected to actually sell to the customers, it's not like working in a shop where you just stand behind the till and put through sales. The store teams are very small so it is a problem when people are off sick as it can leave others to work alone. All team members are expected to know how to open and close the store as managers have days off and meetings to attend the store obviously cannot just close on these days. If you're willing to work hard and want career progression this is a great company, but not so good for slackers and people that are inflexible with how, when and where they work.
Pros
Great discount. Free samples. Careers progression. Training programme
Cons
Lone working

when new staff come in to do with management they sacked all their staff no matter how long you have been there. Islington is the worst sallys in London to worked in. management really bad you don't have a chance to work up company always bring in people so a bit of waist of time if you wanted to build with a company this is not the one.
Cons
long hours trade discount is the same as satff discount so no benfits

Seemed good to begin with and after a while you’re pushed to hunt customers around the store offering low quality products that company wants to sell at that moment. Expected to complete all of the paperwork, banking, salon visits even expected to give out flyers to random people on the street. If you agree to everything the management is asking for you’re going to have an easy life. If not you’ll be bullied into doing whatever you’re being told to do. Other than that a lot of lone working, shifts change at the last minute and you’re expected to cover whatever is needed! Basically drop everything what you’re doing and run to the shop! Oh and when you work on Saturday all day you won’t be able to take your break due to lone working and you’re not allowed to close the shop! If the house of pain is your dream job by all means go for it!
Cons
Lone working, long hours, not stable work pattern

if you are looking for a job for life sally's is the place to go. I learned a lot while working within the company I was given the opportunity to broaden my skills and learn new skills at the same time, I worked my way up in the company very quickly, and all the staff are really friendly, unfortunately I found myself in a position where I did not feel I could progress any further, and although I really enjoyed my job I don't like to think of my career staying on the same level forever, I would like to progress as high as I could possibly go,
Pros
paid dinner breaks
Cons
late shift patterns

Not a good company to work for , job description is for "retail assistant" but you basically do everything the manager does, you get throw in at the deep end straight away, have to open up/lock up the store by your self on weekends and some weeknights.I wouldn't apply for this job if you don't drive as your required to travel to other stores sometimes which is a problem since most of the trade stores are in icolated trading estates with no bus route. You also feel very pressured in to selling add on items and own brand products to professional hairdressers/beauticians which is very hard since they know exactly what products they want. You don't get a break unless you work over 6 hours and in my whole time for working for them I have never worked over 6 hours so you can't even grab a quick drink/snack to keep you going throughout the day.
Pros
The pay is good
Cons
Basically the whole job

sally salon services is an awful place to work. You have to be available to work even on your days off or you will be told you are not flexible. Forget having a social or home life, you have to be flexible to cover other stores with very little notice and will be penalised if you say you have plans as its your day off, quite often you are told that you are covering so make it happen. Ridiculous. The staff are taken advantage off, expected to work any hours even at short notice. In the job profile it states that there are fantastic bonuses and incentives. This is laughable as your quotas aren't achievable. No moral, no respect. Stay clear of this company it will be the worst decision you ever make.

Salons is a good company to work for. I worked with a good group of girls there. It is a fast passed environment. I learnt how to handle customers and how to meet there needs effectively. I had a lot of responsibility while i was there such as end of day banking counting of till floats and end of day paperwork.
