Line working after one weeks of working at scheme.
Project Worker (Former Employee) - Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk - 25 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI had 30 customers that needed 5 hrs of support a week. I only worked 35.5hrs a week. Shocking management of probation and job progression as I was not helped or sat down with enough time to be fully integrated into the workforce.
Pros
Meeting new people everyday.
Cons
lone working, office 24/7

I enjoy working for Sanctuary
Project Worker (Current Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 21 November 2023
I work with a great team and have very supportive management. Everyone has a great work ethic, resident based and genuinely care. We support our clients and each other. It’s hard work and yes, we are understaffed but they are trying to recruit and do weed out any inappropriate staff. I am proud to work for them
Pros
Support network
Cons
Understaffed

Jobs at Sanctuary
I wish they never took over the service and another company took over.
Project Worker (Former Employee) - Suffolk - 5 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The best part was making some good friends who were colleagues. The best thing I did was leave. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They don't give a good induction, there is no work life balance, emails are endless and expectations are too high. They say they offer flexible working but don't ask cos you won't get it, you'll be forced into a job role you don't want to keep a job. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic, negative, backstabbing What is a typical day like for you at the company? Endless emails, changing gatepost

Arrive early leave late, constantly working well over hours your supposed to.

Amazing place, team and management
Night Concierge/ bank support assistant (Former Employee) - Halifax, West Yorkshire Range Street - 19 October 2023
I started working with sanctuary through my agency, I did this for approximately 1- 2years. I was then offered a bank assistant job which, I took an interview and got the job. I then was was asked if, I wanted a permanent job as a night concierge as I liked working nights. I accepted and after an interview, I passed that too. I love my job, the staff and management were amazing. Helped staff whenever needed. Felt at safe, Really was my dream job. Never allowed me to be over work and the clients appreciated the support they got. Benefits and wage was good. It was a shame that the Range Street, Halifax site closed due to Calderdale council funding. Miss the job and work colleagues.
Pros
Great colleagues
Cons
Calderdale council funding

STAY AWAY! There is no staff u stay and do a.24hr shift because they tell you if you leave you will no longer have a job... Management are poor - nothing stays confidential... If you want a miserable working life then go for it and apply

Exhausting. Staff leaving. Lots of area managers.
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - clover court - 25 September 2023
A typical day starts at 7am. Straight into work, 3 floors of flats. Lots of medications to do which is stressful. Lots of showering and dressing tenants and feeding. A lot of lone working, and often running over time slots. Area managers in as no manager now. Staff are very low and looking for a new job. Rudely spoken to, and treated like children. Breaks are often very short as you are asked to start again. Left to own devices.
Pros
None
Cons
Long shifts, on feet constantly.Lots of stress.

It started off somehat ok but the decline into what it became was horrendous.
Landscape Chargehand (Former Employee) - Shiregreen and Brightside - 20 September 2023
Days work be a dogs body no direction. New starter warning work a full calendar month before you get paid take out a loan. Managment useless and disintrested in staff 2 staff missed out on a level 3 diploma due to lack of support. Work culture be a bully and thrive be helpful get used. Hardest part of job travelling miles to get tools that are poor, to get on site some days at 10am from a 730am start time. Most enjoyable part of job not been micromanaged for the last couple of months because new manager was never in. That after 12 year of micromanagement for a job thats more basic than serving pints in a pub. Always picking up pieces of incompentent staff that were never reprimanded for poor performance or behaviour.
Pros
Depends if you are a favourite.
Cons
Sent to correct other staffs work or just flat out do it instead.

Too much travel, not enough time to do the job!!
Local Service Manager (Former Employee) - Cumbria and Lancaster - 12 September 2023
I worked as a Local Service Manager covering a large geographical area. Too many services and too much time spent travelling meant I was always playing catch up and I literally had no time for my family and the job made me ill. My particular role was so different to other Service Managers in the North Area Team. I was actually managing more services and being paid less than someone based on-site managing one service. Just no comparison of workload between the two but I was expected to perform the same. It’s an impossible role (Cumbria and Lancaster) that needs looking at. Some services cannot recruit and are chronically understaffed so heavy reliance on agency workers who can be unreliable. I had a company car for all the travel but that’s no longer being offered so your personal vehicle will be put through its paces with all the travel. Support from above is virtually nonexistent, largely because no one has the time as workloads are too great. You know it’s time to leave when it’s severely impacting your home life.
Pros
Some nice staff and clients.
Cons
Too much work, too much travel, very chaotic.

Meh
Housing Officer (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 25 July 2023
not a great company, they have become to big to cope and the tenants often get lost in the process. you can make a difference with the tenants but it is normally at the expense of other work as they work you very hard.

Not Enough Time with Clients
Project Worker (Former Employee) - Suffolk - 25 July 2023
The role is advertised as mainly working with people at risk of homeliness. Most of the work is in an office or doing building and equipment maintenance checks and repairs and calculating rent balances and enforcing rent payments from the customers. The corporation centre makes all the major decisions although the have zero interaction with the actual clients. Project Workers are treated as disposable no matter how much effort we put in or how much we actually help out the clients.

Very toxic environment
Support and Care assistant (Former Employee) - Rye, East Sussex - 16 July 2023
Terrible place to work the manager bullies people or tries to and any issues raised are swept under the carpet even if it's raised to the area manager and the manager seems to gossip about staff and residents causing a toxic atmosphere to work in and you only get help if you are apart of the manager's clicky group I felt unappreciated and undervalued and wouldn't recommend working there.
Pros
None
Cons
Extremely poor management and no respect for hard working staff

Maintenance Manager (Former Employee) - Chester - 13 July 2023
Love my work colleagues. But overlooked and undervalued as an employee. Would advise to avythis company at all costs. Promotion was given to family instead of the best person for the job. Higher management telling lies and spreading gossip . No fare pay for work load

Bank worker review
Bank project worker (Current Employee) - Witham St Hughs, Lincolnshire - 11 July 2023
I am a bank worker at the Witham site and because if this I am not always consistent with my hours but having been there since December 2022 I have had no issues. The systems in place are a bit out dated, by that I mean it’s still all about ‘chisel and stone’ when Sanctuary could be looking to move things to electronic (just feel it would make for better organisation) but my line manager has been consistently supportive and the people I work with always include me despite sometimes being present irregularly. Lots of training opportunities and overall I find it really pleasant.
Pros
Training, small teams, nice atmosphere
Cons
Document recording is a bit outdated but it’s still doable!

Learning Disability Project Worker (Former Employee) - Norfolk - 8 June 2023
If you’re a bloke don’t bother working there female management make you feel inadequate and insecure. They’re never there to support you only to pull you down a lack of management and it’s all about oneupmanship
Pros
Absolutely nothing

Going home

Unsupportive management
National Compliance Officer (Current Employee) - Worcestershire - 24 April 2023
Staff downgraded in order to avoid upgrading other teams. No management support as they are too busy protecting their own grades. They do not retain good staff. Turnover of staff is very high. A very busy, legally abinding position which is extremely under graded. No consistency with training.
Pros
Working from home 2/2
Cons
Fake company supposedly a charity that does not value its staff
