How does someone get hired at Scottish Autism? What are the steps along the way?

6 answers

  • Interview, either in person or via Teams depending on covid restrictions

  • You need to apply online. They advertise at Indeed and S1 jobs, but you can view vacancies, job descriptions and apply via the website: www.scottishautism.org.
Interviews are usually with a small panel of 2 managers, sometimes with a parent or a service user also on the panel. Individual interviews are often preceded by Open Evenings where all candidates are present and can meet and mix with service users and existing staff.

  • 1st interview 2nd interview

  • Be on the dole

  • Contact them

  • They have a 2 week induction/training programme which is totally classroom based - this is no use! It would be better to observe the children/young adults in situ instead of turning up for a shift totally without a clue of what to do and being thrown in to support children/young adults who have no idea who you are or why you are there!
