Pay is great
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 24 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPay is the best out there but struggle to get any shifts. Loads for RN's but for support workers there is literally nothing sometimes for days on end

Overall disappointed
Staff Nurse Band 5 (Former Employee) - Northern Ireland - 26 September 2023
Working for 3/4 years . Felt pressure to preform always , felt preference was given to other workers for shifts . Was no supported during issues when they arose . Overall I worked full time for many years and left feeling lonely and very unsupported

Insights into Scottish Nursing Guild
What people like
- Feeling of personal appreciation
- Time and location flexibility
- Fair pay for job
Negative and wouldn’t advise anyone to work with them. Support is minimal and it’s more a business than caring about staff
Staff nurse (Current Employee) - Edinburgh - 20 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? pay rates are fantastic for a registered nurse What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of training. Your only as good as the last shift you worked What is the work environment and culture like at the company? they push if you have to come out of a shift and make you feel very guilty What is a typical day like for you at the company? There is very little work now

Great flexibility & pay
Agency Nurse (Current Employee) - Scotland - 4 May 2023
Excellent pay rates with the flexibility of choosing work around family life. However, not guaranteed shifts therefore not reliable for full time work. Call centre team are always very helpful & supportive. Would highly recommend!
Pros
Great pay rates
Cons
Not guaranteed shifts

Very professional and excellent pay
Staff Nurse (Current Employee) - Scotland - 19 July 2022
Really enjoyed my experience so far. Call centre staff are informative and friendly. Online App is available to view shifts. Payed on time and multiple times per week.
Pros
Excellent hourly rates of pay
Cons
Shifts sometimes just available the day before

Well paid when work available
Agency RMN (Current Employee) - Scotland - 30 May 2022
Lots of hospital work for RGNs who have ward based experience. Placements based on previous last two years of clinical work which can limit settings you are able work in. Although I,m an experienced RMN, only able to take Care Home placements or some Community shifts as that’s where I had worked recently. These are very limited on the Guild. Nurses who fit the criteria for the majority of work offered which is with General Hospitals, can make a lot of money. Currently I am looking to join other agencies whose pay rates are less but are able to offer a wider variety of work.
Pros
Probably has the highest pay rates of any Nursing Agency
Cons
Long, confusing recruitment process. Little work for RMN, s unless they have worked on mental health wards recently.

Not enough shifts for HCAs
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Scotland - 10 September 2020
So after you jump over all of their hurdles. And you finally receive your pin and paid for your uniform, you find there are zero shifts for HCAs. This was over a week!!. And when you do get a job FINALLY coming up for a HCA at a hospital, and you check client notes to check see if your skills match. You phone up and they tell you you can't do it because you have to have additional psych restraint training and be tested for covid every week. This Information was never provoded before starting the job, and them making you think that there are a lot of shifts for HCAs. Staff are nice and supportive on the phones. However, i am disappointed about the information giving on shifts for HCAs.
Pros
Great pay. Staff nice.
Cons
Lack of shifts for HCAs, even if ypu are willing to travel.

Amazing!
Staff Nurse (Current Employee) - Edinburgh - 4 March 2020
Amazing organisation to work for. You are valued and pay rate reflects this. They are massively supportive and I wouldn’t work anywhere else! You won’t get better than SNG!

Great company
HCA/Support Worker (Current Employee) - Scotland - 10 November 2019
What you get out of the Guild is directly related to the amount of effort you put in
E.g. 100%= great pay
Great training and holiday pay is pro rata with the hours you do

I love working for the SNG. Fantastic company and fantastic team.
Staff Nurse (Current Employee) - Scotland - 18 August 2019
I love being part of the SNG, its the most trusted agency within central scoltand.
Ive learned lots of skills within this role as constantly undergoing additional training.
The hardest part of the job is not getting shifts, if the departments dont have people off sick, you dont get work...
The best part is suiting myself when i work.:)

Horrid company.
Nursing Placement Coordinator (Former Employee) - Scotland - 23 October 2018
Awful company to work for. Management were abusive, back handed and degrading. The environment and team dynamic was despicable with senior team members acting unprofessionally, being nasty and bullying each other. I have never been so shocked as to find a group of people who are meant to be in the caring profession behaving as they did. I would never advise anyone to work for this company or for thornbury (their sister company down south) as I have heard very similar things.

Lack of consistency
Nursing Assistant (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 1 July 2017
There are some amazing people in the team however it is balanced out with some people with equally as bad practices.
The agency does not seem to consider where they are sending some people and the level of incompetency in some of them.

Good to work for.
Nursery Assistant (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, Midlothian - 28 December 2016
Friendly & supportive. Well paid, although staff had to be prepared to travel for work at short notice. However, the company paid petrol money. They also required staff with a minimum of 6 months experience.
