Great to learn about the energy market but can be tough as a CSA
Customer Service Advisor - Call Centre (Former Employee) - Home Based - 14 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? The calls weren’t always bad but when they were they were AWFUL. Call centre work is not easy so please be kind to cust service agents they are people too (some aren’t very patient and it’s because there are targets to meet everyday). Pay was low. Back to back calls. EVERYTHING is timed! My manager was 10/10 though and the learning process was intense but paid which was plus. I learned a lot of useful information about energy that has actually helped me manage my own bills as well as explain in a succinct way to customers as well as family & friends. A lot of SP customers seemed to wake up angry so the trick is to be calm and patient with them, try not to worry about the targets. The right manager will understand. An interesting and varied role but not for the faint hearted. It’s good to show empathy, that will help with upset customers & don’t take things they say personal. If a cust was rude I would pause, And let them know, that my job is to help them and for me to do that, we need to begin with a mutual understanding of each other. I would advise that I may ask questions but it is so that I can understand the problem and figure out the best solution. But ultimately reassure that I’m in their side and there to help. I would advise that they are in control of their energy bills and discuss ways in which to mange it better. I would also explain how to read their bills or why they have been charged a certain fee. Also every call centre offer goodwill gestures per call, so someone experiencing financial hardship -

A great place to work, with lots of opportunity.
Cable Jointer (Former Employee) - Liverpool - 4 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Great company to work for, good pay and benefits, holidays, sick pay, pension, occupational health and great training and opportunities to progress I spent over 30 years with them starting in the gang, moving on to be a jointers mate, then on to be a jointer. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I found it unstressful, over all, good training and knowledge removes stress What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Plenty of support, both technical and emotionally, a great team of men, working together. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very varied, plenty to keep you fresh.

Poor company
Electrician (Current Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 30 September 2023
Pay isn’t very good, training is not provided right away. You have to wait until the company decide they are ready to train you. Company van is provided.

Absolutely toxic company culture
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 13 September 2023
It's an absolutely toxic culture! People won't be able to help unless you're in the gang! They aren't as good as you might think. Avoid it at all costs as it's like being thrown in the deep end!

It was okay overall
Sales Advisor (Former Employee) - Seaham - 22 August 2023
It was okay however management didn’t care they would rather just shout at you for not hitting targets then actually help you reach them. Very clicky.

Extremely poor underskilled Managment which leads to mental health concerns
Domestic Letting Market Team Manager (Former Employee) - st vincent street, glasgow - 21 August 2023
No training/no proper tools to do the job. Promotions is not based on skill/knowlege/experience, and is rather based on a clique environment. 1-2-1;s are a farce and progression is only for the people who dont call out all the system issues/problems. Terrible place to work! And the managers who dont know how to actual manage people dont get taken to task!

Cons
Senior Management/Systems/Processes

Race to the bottom
Analyst (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 15 June 2023
Seem to lose knowledgeable staff to redundancy expecting those left to do more work. This also leads to poor customer experience. My team were extremely professional.

Not a good place to work.
Bereavement Officer (Current Employee) - Birlingham - 9 May 2023
Management is bad, System is bad, Managers have no clue what their doing and training was horrible. They kicked out one person when we were on training for speaking the truth about the training and how bad it was. Not a good place to work.

Good place to work, friendly staff and right amount of training given. Always support when needed and many ways to progress within the company itself.

Unstructured graduate scheme, most colleagues good to work with
Graduate Trainee (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 17 April 2023
If you’re not in a certain business area of Scottish power the graduate scheme is a much less structured programme. Not sure why this is the case but certainly hinders the experience. Most people I worked with were nice and Scottish Power itself I don’t think is a bad employer but responsibilities for a junior member of staff seemed very high.
