Volunteering Roles in Liverpool
on 5 September 2020
Volunteered so felt very relaxed
I loved volunteering for Sefton council and helping out when needed, I had lots of different tasks to complete and targets that I set myself on each task I was working on which ranged from gardening to painting to written work to even just communicating with others.

Need more staff
Lack of understanding towards people and children they definitely need more staff because only help in emergencies it shouldn’t get to this stage with children, not much care for the children yes they many follow bare minimum and some things but not all till it comes to two days before reviews, they don’t listen to children’s views they write down and tell children they will look into it then they don’t listen and then they don’t follow it up children lose trust in the social workers.

Assistant Transport Manager in Hawthorn Road Bootle.

Would not recommend
I found a culture of bullying, favouritism and nepotism. I felt totally undervalued and undermined without any support from my seniors. The grievance procedure was laughable and the support from the union was atrocious, even when your issues were completely legitimate and indesputable. It was a relief when I left and it ranks for me personally as one of my worst employment experiences.
Head of School sand Families/various in Bootle, Merseyside

Poor management culture
Good people but poor leadership and management. Stressful due to budget reductions and constant reorganisation. Expectation of working long days with little gratitude but most staff do this due to the strong service ethos.
