Selco it’s waste of time.

Selco wages are joke. Management they don’t have a clue about job. Just don’t bother, waste of time. You can find better companies to work with. Only good thing was coffee shop inside the store.

Enjoyable but can be stressful at times

Enjoyable work environment but can be understaffed which leads to a stressful environment, they promote from with in and if you seek it out the training is really useful

Pros

If you like being busy it's great

Cons

Stressful at times

Average

Paid on time, overtime if you want it. Could be better training for pickers and loaders. Overall a good place to work just needs to be paid better.

Hardwork but Rewarding

Bradford Store can be alot of hardwork but a very good Friendly team, lots of options for apprenticeship style learning for progression in management, Sales academy and HGV Academy. I have worked at Selco for almost 14 years, the company is very people focused and very strict with Health & Safety to make sure employees most importantly go home to their families every day.

Slave camp

Was the worst place I have ever worked paid pennies for jobs that required pounds.Expected to perform miracles and work all hours under the sun even tho they spout alot of rubbish you will work many weekends even tho they say 1 in every 4.You are severely underpaid even with fork lift license and everything else on top.You are not appreciated for anything you do even if you go above what you need to.Clear separation between management and staff.Management loved sound of their own voices and will actively try to push you out If you have an opinion or if they slightly dislike you

Okay place to work for. Can get busy and stressful at times. Management can be a bit on it. Don’t really get a chance to relax. Heath and safet can be a bit over the top

Pros

No weekends

Honest opion.

Firstly the company treat you well and pay a decent wage for class 2 hiab Drivers. However if you have been in the building trade doing deliveries before, this can be a challenge to say the least.I can only speak from the depot I ran out from, so the majority of the staff are Great, but unfortunately the transport and route planning is woeful. You would expect it to be run by people with transport/ logistics background but it isn't. So don't be surprised if your turn up on site and one of your colleagues is also there, or 100yds away.I experienced loading issues on a Daily basis.I mentioned the problems I was experiencing to the management but it would appear nothing was done about it because the problems just kept occuring. The same Drivers are expected to work late when ever the management decide, whilst some drivers NEVER work a minute over. Some Drivers don't start till 07.00hrs, so if there is a loading issue in the morning it has a knock on effect, ie, you get out late, then hit rush hour traffic, get back late and not loaded for the next day when you knock off, and this happens on a Daily Basis. If you don't mind banging your head against the wall, and mentioning the same problems over and over again then go for it.To be fair, not all branches can be this bad, if they were then selco wouldn't exist. If it was ran by people who knew and understood the game it would be a great job, but unfortunately it is being ran by inadequate individuals who are treading water,Hopefully they sink sooner rather than later.

Pros

Decent wages, Decent Guys on the Ground.

Cons

Poory run logistics.

Sales assistant

Fast paced, not enough members of staff to do volume of work. Under payed, vert dusty place to work ppe like p3 mask should be worn. Blame culture, management do nothing

Selco really does care for their staff. If you have some good skills you can go far in the business. There are lots of opportunities for progression.

Pros

Fair pay. X mas gifts . Lots of pizza days and great perks. Fun teams .

Cons

Can be busy so good health helps .

ugh...meh

can be stressful at times. fairly okay until the rush hours - shift always different and tough at times. trade people are rude and sometimes management doesn't care. you have to work hard and it goes unnoticed meanwhile management do nothing and don't care so long as you make money for them

Management are the problem

Management make the job harder and keep taking staff off one job to start another and it is hard to get things done properly as they keep interfering and causing chaos. Their priorities are all wrong.

Pros

Nice colleagues.

Cons

Bad management

Great place to work

Can be extermly enjoyable place to work. The people you work with makes all the difference. Once you get your head around building products all areas of the store become much more easier.

Easy job but no sense of achievement

A lot of politics within the management, seemed to be a rule for one set of people and a rule for others. There was banter between work colleagues which made the day go a bit quicker

Pros

On site cafe, easy work stacking shelves

Cons

Politics, management

Not a bad job, just hard to get there and not paid enough for the work done

Selco is been around forever, well established company. The problem is they relays on a few people that's working for years, and also protect the weak people that just pretend to work hard. I think this happens a lot in other companies, but is not fair. Overall not a bad place to be in, but I don't necessarily recommend.

Pros

Free sandwiches and pizza day occasionally

Cons

Long hours, bad transport connections if you don't own a car, can be overwhelming sometimes
