A bit dull and quiet
Sales Advisor (Former Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear - 10 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedUsually worked alone in a small environment with very few customers to talk to. Spent most of the time cleaning displays out of boredom. Had too keep door open even though bus stop with fumes right outside

Fitter
Bedroom Fitter (Former Employee) - Worcester - 20 November 2023
fitters stay away, very low prices for work, long working hours over long distances, always a problem with materials and designs. And usually it's the fitters' fault. Hourly work combined with travel to the client sometimes goes below the lowest national average. Communication between departments do not exist. And the worst thing is that the last payment has to be collected by the fitter from customers but if customers don’t pay because is someone fault doesn’t matter fitter finished good always is fitter fault and must waiting for money
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Long hours work for very low pay

Machine Operator (Former Employee) - Bilston - 19 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The staff at sharps are all great guys, you can always have a great laugh with everyone. The work at sharps was very fluid and once you knew what you had to do it was a very easy job. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The job was never really stressful, the only bad part was learning that the morning shift had done next to nothing. Other then that it was a great place to work. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Absolutely amazing. There’s different cliques at Sharps so there was someone to talk to or make friends with very easily, everyone is welcoming and extremely helpful. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I always got to work pretty early as did a large group of us, so we’d all be in the smoking shelter chatting and having a laugh till shift started. As we’re clocking in, clocking in the manager would let us know the plans for the day. We’d go to our work stations knowing what the plan was and just smash out the work.

Stay Away
Fitter (Current Employee) - Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire - 3 November 2023
Shocking company to work for stay away. They give you a 2 day job that's takes 4 days then they moan like mad at you. Give you 1 days of work the next week. They expecte you to work long hours alone no extra pay. They can ring say your job been changed or cancelled at anytime. Fuel allowance if terrible only starts after 25miles. Always surveyor errors, missing or damaged parts all time. Customer told it be done in 1 day to keep them happy but really it be a 3 day job your be pressed by office to complete and also by Customer. Don't know why the treat there fitters so bad......

Worst job I’ve ever had
Planning and Installations (Former Employee) - Wolverhampton, West Midlands - 18 September 2023
I had to deal with very rude co workers who would huff if I asked a question. Felt very unwelcome in the team and didn’t fit in with the group. High level of responsibility from the get go, would go home stressing about work. The manager is delusional and it wasn’t worth having a job, terrible pay for the role I had and no room for progression. Everyone was there to stab each other in the back
Pros
Canteen
Cons
Terrible environment, toxic people and underpaid for the work loaf

Poor experience
Finance (Former Employee) - Bilston, West Midlands - 16 June 2023
If you want to work hard for no recognition, this is the place for you. Work under immense pressure, rewards are taken away and you are expected to not complain and carry on. No work life balance, and you are an inconvenience for raising problems as poor management hasn’t got the skills to deal with it. You leave and then your final pay gets taxed incorrectly as well as being underpaid holiday. Development will be stopped unless your face fits. Awful experience!
Pros
Leaving work each day
Cons
Long hours, no management support

Not Good
Sales Designer (Former Employee) - Scotland - 24 May 2023
Would have you working seven days a week. Very expensive product not easy to sell. Best leads given to the more experienced reps who have been there the longest. .

Loved the work company was a nightmare
Installer (Former Employee) - Newport Gwent - 13 May 2023
The training is dog s**t you go to there showroom in Milton Keynes basically get put in a small space get a brief description of what they do and then your left to to crack on your told it's 2weeks training its 1 week in Milton then you shadow and experienced fitter for 2 days before your then send out on the field to complete your first fit, this for many even me having many years experience in all aspects of carpentry was frientening new thing product you barely know and the potential of upsetting a customer but you cannot give away the fact you are absolutely lacking in experience for me I enjoyed the job to some point as regardless of the hours I would usually put in to see the customers reaction to the work had done was like no experience I ever had but when it can to the few jobs that resulted in bad product deliver to the customer that mean you could not complete that work also meant no signed satisfactory form from customer and also no pay not even a percentage so you when find yourself work weekends etc to get those works completed which is where i started to loose my enthusiasm for the work otherwise I would have stayed
Pros
Customer satisfaction
Cons
No personal life just work

Good pay
Fitter (Former Employee) - Wales - 27 March 2023
Generally a good company to work for however they don’t provide adequate training. Only training you on basic wardrobes then expecting you to build complex ones that you haven’t been trained on poor management often given 2 days to complete a 4 day job then moaned to when you run over then given a 1 day job and given 5 days to complete it so you earn very little that week

Cons

There are worse companies to work for.
Manager (Former Employee) - England - 20 March 2023
A company with so much potential with a great product let down by questionable morals from senior management. The factory is so over worked that it impacts the quality (or lack of) the product and this impacts what the customer receives. Factory and office desperately needs investment.

Poor company with really poor pay.
Bedroom Fitter (Former Employee) - Yorkshire - 15 March 2023
All I would say is that as a fitter you will be earning absolutely nowhere near the £260 per day that they advertise. You go on a weeks installation course which is ran every 2 weeks because the vast majority of fitters realise how badly they are getting paid for what they have to do and leave. It's astounding that you can be getting paid under £100 per day for the level of skill needed. Why on earth they don't just pay more in order to keep the guys who can do it rather than constantly recruiting is beyond me. Over 20 people started the weeks installation course, 9 people finished it and 7 of those 9 have all left. The other 2 weren't in our Whatsapp group so they may or may not still be sharps employees. I would say that a good 50% of jobs have some sort of survey error that the fitter has to sort out and IF you're lucky you will get a whole £35 after tax for sorting it out even if you have Lost half a days work. You get 30p per mile fuel allowance which is absolutely ridiculous and they only pay it after the first 15 miles per journey! Most of the time you have to travel over and hour to jobs and be prepared to work VERY long days in order to get the job finished otherwise you will be working for nothing. If you are a joiner then stay away because I guarantee you that you will earn a lot less with Sharps than you would in any other circumstance. It's constant problems and stress for very little reward. Another thing that happens regularly is that customers are already annoyed with Sharps customer service before you even arrive which creates a bad atmosphere! On top -

Decent money earning potential once you are familiar with the system. Can be frustrating with damaged materials etc but as long as you ate able to be creative and problem solve youre fine.
