Steady, but mentally tough job
Overall good place to work, but due to staff shortages, you might be exhausted at the end of the day. Turnover is in high volume, so there are many opportunities to go up

Hospital
Standard Hospital, see patients, do work go home. nothing out the blue. stay out of trouble and you will be fine. pay could be better as a band 2 but it depends on department and managers

Great place to work, if your face fits
Nepotism reigns supreme. Others will get granted what you have been denied, simply because they suck up to management. Great place to work if you just come in, don’t mingle and crack on. Always short staffed. Very very clicky and support is zero if you need it. All managers want to tick their boxes and be done. Pay is good for the hours, but you can more elsewhere for less stress.

A lot going for it but not easy
Most NHS staff are great, pension etc good, pay ok. Sadly ongoing cuts mean constantly having to do more with less and staff retention at lower/mid management levels can be poor meaning lack of continuity and work being "pushed downhill". If you are a resilient person who is genuinely motivated by the work it can be rewarding.
