I really enjoyed my time at SHI. It is a fast growing and a very educational job with loads of Vendors such as Microsoft, Veaam, VMware, HPE and many more coming into the office on a regular basis, ensuring you have the best knowledge of the latest hardware/ software and licensing products. The management their are brilliant alongside the specialists that are there to help you grow your business. Working on a sales floor with very enthusiastic colleagues was a fantastic working environment. The hardest part of the job was most probably learning all about the different services and products SHI provided as there was so many services they provided! The most enjoyable part of the job was the training they provided as it was also very interesting and fun. Further more I really enjoyed fulfilling customer satisfaction.

No managerial structure, to much gossip and divisions of teams and employees. Pay is okay though. Wouldn’t work there again, good start up position. L

Great learning environment

A great company to work for. Organic growth has opened up opportunities for individual development. Clarity of daily activities and senior management that invest their time and energy to ensuring that individuals and teams are successful.

Friendly environment

Friendly environment, job security, holidays, good management, very good sales force, reputed partner status in UK, not only believe in world class support but it also maintain good customer relationship, Gold partner with numerous vendors i.e. Microsoft, VMware etc.

Polar opposite of what you're 'sold' in job ads/interviews.

The U.K. Arm of SHI puts far to much emphasis on getting reps to hammer prospects with facts about SHI rather than striking up good, meaningful conversations - The initial 3 weeks of training is more like 3 weeks of brainwashing new starters into being able to reel off 'brag' type facts, most of which do not apply to SHI UK or the UK market what so ever. Training is 90% SHI and 10% about IT and the IT Industry. A majority of the 'facts' and USP's relate to the US offices NOT the UK branch. The internal workings and support leave a lot to be desired with some of the most important processes in sales being handled ONLY by staff in New Jersey, leaving your hands tied on many occasions until your colleagues across the pond get into the office. Not great. The only culture in the building is one of cliques and sloping shoulders - if you aren't well received by some of your new colleagues, consider your card marked. If you are liked, you can expect preferential treatment, free leads and free spending accounts - if not, you're in for a rough ride in many ways. The fun and energetic environment you are told about is completely non existent, as is the case for career progression opportunities. Certain upper management figures are unapproachable, unwilling to hear opinions or new ideas and are completely out of touch in regards to what kind of market their sales people are operating in. You can also fully expect to have your probation period extended, even if you're ticking all the boxes. There are some great people at the company but your positive experiences with those -

A job in sales requires you to learn about your product and be knowledgeable in every sense. Must know how to leverage your resources and use them to your advantage in growing your business.
