There is always something to do whether it be helping customers in or out of the venue or helping them find their seat location or checking exits and entrances are safe or making sure no fans etc try to get near the celebrity or football player always fast paced and energetic
Pros
Meeting stars, feeling happy when customers say what a great night thank you, they leave safely and you know you have done your job well.
Cons
Long time on your feet but keep moving you will be fine

The team is very up beat, however it’s high staff turnover due to useless students who don’t care about the job. Good variety of work and when your face is known to management, and they can trust you, you get the opportunity to work all the shifts you want be it Scotland, England Ireland or Wales!
Pros
Free concerts (well working concerts)
Cons
Sometimes very long shifts! I done 19 hours on one shift before

Typical day would include signing in at workplace, confused briefing and instructions from supervisor, no breaks and no one to support you.Truly awful. Lack of communication and teamwork, long hours in a stressful environment. Online training was a joke. An environment of "passing the buck" and not taking responsibility. A disaster like the Manchester Arena attack was always likely.
Pros
None.
Cons
Everything.

I love ShowSec. I know allot of people are against zero hour contracts but for me as a uni student it was ideal as I could pick and choose my shifts as long as I did at least one a month. There have been various points over the years where I’ve had to have time off and they’ve been accommodating, helpful and understanding. It’s always a laugh and they always look after you
Pros
Decent pay, decent amount of hours.
Cons
Not always working with the same people

Showsec were great when I started in 2011, but as the years got on they got worse and worse. Because you are a worker not a member of staff (even though you have to wear their uniform) you have no workers rights. So because of this they treat their staff like rubbish. At the end of the day you’re just a number. Management good in London but outside of they’re an absolute shambles. With Leicester being the worst, which is odd considering that’s where the head office is. Lots of staff are just jacket fillers who somehow managed to get a job here, let alone get an sia licence. If the founder of Showsec Mick Upton knew what they’ve turned into since his death he’d be turning in his grave.
Pros
None
Cons
Bad management and HR department. Don’t care what staff have to say, coz they can just get rid of them

This job is super fun as you meet different people each shifts and the work culture is amazing. Managers are easy to get along with and are always understanding and there to assist with any issues you would face at work.
Pros
Free Lunch Vouchers
Cons

This company is so bad that I was going all around the country for them working different venues and taking other staff with me and one time I couldn't go cos my wife had to go hospital to give birth to my daughter and they fired me for not going to my shift after having a valid excuse. They expected me to miss the birth of my daughter absolute disgusting company.
Pros
Working around the country
Cons
Wage is rubbish management a disgrace

- Zero hours contact - expect you to cancel shift 5 days before but they can cancel you the day before - They have favorites that get most of the work - They won't pay you if you go 15min over original finish time, but will doc you if you work 15min less and they expect you to arrive atleast 15mins before your start time (without being paid) - Stood for long periods of time - they hire ANYONE - even people who are clearly not suited for the job. - Don't provide any food or drink even when you work all day at an away event. - Refused to put any staff on furlough (except management) even though there was near to no work and not enough work for all staff, especially stewards.
Pros
Get to choose when/what you work
Cons
Literally Everything Else

Great place to work, varied events from small conferences to large festivals. During festival season you can work as many hours as you want, however work is virtually non existent in the winter unless you live in London, Manchester, Leeds etc as they have the huge arenas and plenty of them. Promotion prospects used to be if your face fitted with the area manager, however they seem to be promoting people for their qualities now instead, although a few 'pets' still get passed when they really shouldnt. Money isnt great, average for some work, low for others, if you compare to other big security/event companies you will find this lot pay the lowest, there are no perks, no extras, it is pay for your work and thats it. Welfare is slowly improving, got a long way to go and is hit and miss depending on who your ops manager is on the day of the event, some places you get hot drinks and biscuits, others you literally have to ask for a drink of water. There are some managers who definitely have their favourites and they get the best gigs and then the best placements, sadly in this world your face fits or it dont. No matter how hard you work you wont get put back stage, in the pit, on a artist entrance or what you consider a good place to be, its usually front door search or bars. It can be very clicky at various venues, try not to upset anyone because bullying can be rife amongst the old guard who think their jobs are safe no matter what the complaint against them, if your easily upset or very quiet, youd be best to stay in your own area for work. Hardest part of the job is - more...
Pros
choose your hours, no hassle with getting paid on time
Cons
welfare is poor, pay is below average, bullying by older staff members

I met some very unprofessional people at showsec. Supervisor called me a slag in a joking manner which I was shocked at. I found some of the venues had a mafia mentality and not very good. Some of the venue staff rude.

Depending on where you get to work, your main goal is the safety and well being of the customers and artists. Treating everyone with respect even in the hardest times.
