Ideal for casual work
Steward (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 21 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIdeal for casual jobs, frustrating when they cancel you shifts last minute though. Could offer more flexibility as their policies changed. Sometimes could be hard to book onto shifts

Bog Standard Event Security
SIA Door Supervisor (Former Employee) - Aberdeen - 26 September 2023
Bog standard events security work, mainly standing doing nothing for long hours, depends what you get assigned to. Lots of useless students who haven't got a clue
Pros
Easy Wages
Cons
Long hours standing in the cold

Good company to work for
Door Supervisor (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 19 September 2023
If you need a second job or just a casual part time job this is ideal. Even if you are looking for full time work it's worth doing because there are shifts but some months there are less. You can always do this job while working at another as I do. Decent staff and supervisors mostly. Learn to communicate and be confident in your role and you will succeed here.
Pros
Frequent breaks mostly, Paid well, Nice uniform, Get to work at prestigious events. Flexible shifts.
Cons
Expected to do other duties sometimes that are not part of security, But only end of the shift like putting chairs away.

- Time and location flexibility
You get paid to watch concerts for freee
Door Supervisor (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 12 September 2023
Work culture is great. Managers are friendly and professional. colleagues are friendly. Pay is slightly above minimum wage. Zero hour contract, so you can choose when to work. The hours range from 6 to 12 hours depending on the venue. More shifts if you are SIA then if you are a steward. There are alot of venues showsec work at (OVO Arena, hammersmith apollo, shepherds bush o2, islington o2, Drumsheds etc). Stadiums in the summer (tottenham, wembley, london(west ham). If you are looking to go into security this company is good as a first entry point. Good second job as there are alot of shifts Good job if you are a student wanting to make extra dough.

Zero hours employment with all the "associated negativity"
Steward (Current Employee) - South Yorkshire - 7 September 2023
Steward role. Book work online, turn up ontime in uniform. Listed to basic briefing and go to your assigned location to do basic observation, guidance and customer support function. Typically working with "non showsec labour" who dont have much of a clue and even less commitment. Do as the "purples" tell you even if it does not make sense. Security industry needs professionalising.
Pros
Non
Cons
Pay for uniform, limited recognition.

Okay as a stop gap job
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 21 July 2023
It's like any other company out there, pay could better, better organised than most, same people tend to the choice shifts and kf you get it before them there is a good chance of you getting your shift cancelled and " those" people magically getting it.
Pros
Good people to work with
Cons
Also bad people to work with

Enjoyable, opportunity to make a healthy side-income, but dealing with HR isn’t as enjoyable…
Steward (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 4 July 2023
Firstly, this job is perfect for students, those who are looking for their first job or someone who would like to grow their people skills. Shifts vary depending on the venue, show and/or location. It can either be the most chaotic shift of your life or, the most boring. For the most part, I enjoyed being a steward and was able to earn a nice amount of money despite it not being a stable income. I think my only downside would be HR. To put it bluntly, I was blamed for their blunder which, a couple of months down the line, ultimately cost me my job at Showsec. So, beware! Do not even think of making a mistake at this particular job because it really does hang by a thin thread haha!

Nice side gig
Safety Steward (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 22 June 2023
Has decent pay, and they provide you with uniform and online training. However there's been a lot of periods where there is barely any/no events available to book (especially if you aren't SIA). Definitely not a sole income kind of job but is a nice side gig to pick a couple of shifts and earn a little on the side. One thing to note however, is that they keep you after the event to check the seats and area, however sometimes this takes a while and is not included in your working hours. Also not great if you have to catch the last bus/train home afterwards.
Pros
Holiday pay added on
Cons
Periods with no work.

Great
Security Supervisor (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 15 June 2023
Very fair and lots of room to progress. If you do your job properly management do notice and push you further. No complaints, would be five star if pay for ALL SIA staff was higher, but that's an industry issue not a showsec one.

spent hours of my time applying and getting enrolled only to find out that there is barely any work available. a complete and utter sham the enrollment process was slow and inefficient but i went through with it expecting work, there was literally nothing available, certainly nothing of interest
