Great place to work

Featured review

Love my job. Such a lovely place to work. Was worried as I worked in a care home previously and it wasn’t very nice. At signature it’s so different. Residents are so well cared for and it’s just a lovely place to be. Best thing I ever did was applying for this job

Pros

Free parking, lunches

Cons

None

Do not work here! Poor management and no work life balance! Sometimes you have to work extra and for the same pay! Do not get a job here ! I can’t say any more other than it’s a terrible place with managers that have no clue about what they are doing!

Pros

Nice residents

Overworked and understaffed

Terrible management and staff politics. They are chronically understaffed and expect you to do the work of three people by yourself. Very high staff turnover as nobody can handle the stress.

Excellent employer

Been with Signature for over 2 years. Satisfied with the benefits they offer, looking after their staff. It has its own ups and downs but just like every other company. Vera happy

Relax workplace

The staffs there are very supportive and the management team is great. They have a very good induction programme and training (paid time) before you start your work. Two to three days shadow shifts to let you get more familiar to the residence, good company to work for .

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

Long hours

Many thanks for your great feedback, we're pleased to read about your positive feedback about the induction programme and shadow shifts.

Best place I’ve worked at

Excellent training. Very friendly management and team. The atmosphere is peaceful to work at. There are all kinds of facilities for staff. Staff room is great and during lunch food will be available at the staff room if we order food in the kitchen. You get opportunity and training to advance in career too. Unfortunately I had to leave cause I moved to a different city but if I ever go back I’ll join there again.

Pros

Friendly and peaceful atmosphere

Cons

Less communication between team members about work

Good place to work

The environment is good to work in. You get free meals every shift and it’s to a high standard. I would say, there are a few places that require improvement especially caring for staff. It can be tedious and demanding sometimes but I do get to work with some lovely people on my shifts which makes the day’s work pleasant. I wonder if ventilation could be improved in the corridors .

Pros

Beautiful environment

Cons

Hostility from some staff members

Hello, Many thanks for your positive feedback about Signature at Farnham Common; it's nice to read that the environment is good to work in and the people you work with are lovely. I'll make sure to pass your comments on to the relevant departments. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

I would never work here again!

Appalling. I worked here for 7 months and they only care about themselves. I did not pass my probation because I had 14 days off in total whilst working there for medical and mental health reasons. They will put you on the rota and not tell you and then blame you when you do not come in (always their fault). They except you to always make sure your outside life does not effect your work life which is impossible. Deformation of character. When interviewed I had short short nails and eyelashes, 6 months later it was the biggest problem ever. The family members are RUDE and disrespectful no matter how nice you are to them. Management is disgraceful they do not care about you at all.

Pros

only the staff members.

Cons

Dementia and Assisted Management. Plus certain family members.

Hello, thank you for your review; as a business we focus on developing and training our staff to provide them with the opportunity for career progression within care.

Bad organisation

Poor place to work, there are some good days but the organisation and communication are really lacking, staff is not taken care of, sick days unpaid, staff meals are leftovers from previous days. Generally really busy and understaffed, care level & quality for the residents is low given that carers have so many other duties (serving food, taking food orders and clearing plates, medication)

Pros

Flexibility with rota requests

Luxury living it is not sold a dream to the residents and the poor staff have to deal with the poorly assessed residents

Runs on agency Skelton staff Over worked No appreciation Low staff moral If your face don’t fit — run Your not just a carer you are a Swiss Army knife The pager in your pocket sounds like class full of toddlers playing the triangle Convour belt of staff

Pros

Home time

Cons

Short breaks

Disorganised and rude

No uniform, no payslips provided after 2 months of service. Very disorganised! The management is often rude and arrogant. Lovely residents and most staff. The pay not great for the amount of work and the stress level.

All for show

I only lasted a month at Elton house in Watford , due to the lack of support and supervision, I saw many staff using bed sheets sliding residence up in the bed when there was sliding sheets in place , I also witnessed poor practices with medication being administered, I witnessed staff members ignoring residents who needed reassurance due to dementia, management will bring you in for supervisions for other people’s insecurities and feeling threatened by over qualified new starters, care supervisor cutting corners and not acting professionally and swearing at other staff members , and definitely not leading by example. Also no leadership on the floor as poor residents who are assessed for a hoist have incorrect slings or using disposable ones over and over. Residents don’t have flannels or towels in there rooms , and never have any wipes and very difficult to find bed linen. The home is beautiful and many nice people who work there but lack of supervision and the poor practices let the home down.

Pros

Beautiful home

Cons

Supervision and support for new staff member’s

Toxic work culture.

Very toxic culture. A lot of gossiping and bullying. I loved the residents and some of the colleagues were wonderful, but once you'd been marked as an unpopular with the "in" group, that was it. I quit after walking home crying after every shift for weeks. I just couldn't face going back there and took a job that paid me nearly £2 less just to get away.Chronically understaffed with a high staff turnover. The residents deserve better.

Bullying was sadly rife

The work culture and environment was very toxic and there was a lot of cliques and gossiping. I really enjoyed working with the residents, but some of the colleagues made it unbearable. Very fast paced and very often understaffed in the dementia unit. The ratio of staff to residents is extremely off, particularly considering all of the residents in this particular section have dementia, often alongside other mental and physical extra needs. If you are not in with the clique, then you were pretty much disregarded, whispered about, giggled at and sometimes purposely given extra work / tasks to make you late for other residents. I experienced quite a bit of bullying from a selection of other colleagues, though a few were kind, it was too much. It’s a shame because I really liked my residents and this was my first role in care and it nearly put me off working in the healthcare field for good. If there was less mean behaviour towards each other and more focus on client care, politeness and spending more time being able to actually care for the clients in a person-centred way, I would definitely have stayed. The building and facilities are lovely, and there are some great creative and sensory-based activities for the residents. I enjoyed this and helping my clients with personal care and putting a smile on their face, even when times were rough. The hours are also long, which is understandable due to the very nature of the work. However, when you add sometimes 14 hour shifts to bullying and work that is already challenging at times, it is soul-destroying. I left, and still work in -

Pros

Free lunches, lovely residents, lovely building

Cons

Bullying, Toxic Culture, long hours

very stressful

Always short staffed for the amount of residents we have don’t really care about you aslong as they’re making money sometimes it feels like a lot of people don’t really know what’s going on as in management also have to work over 40 hours to get overtime

Pros

Flexible

Cons

Short staffed
