Very average
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Bracknell, Berkshire - 27 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedOkay place of work but with a poor commission structure that is in place to counteract a relatively low basic wage. Okay for a weekend job but nothing more

Jobs at Skechers
Thumbs down
Supervisor (Former Employee) - London - 28 October 2023
Not a good company to work for, regular visits from U.S which they will never speak to you, act like you’re beneath them. Same with district mangers/ regional mangers. They never speak to you and when they do it’s condescending. Hr is not there for the people. Rather there to protect misconduct from store managers. There selling ugly shoes for ridiculous prices and wondering why they miss out on sales. Pay is not good either !!!
Pros
When your shift finishes.
Cons
Excepting the job offer

Nice pay
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 24 September 2023
Working comission based is quite good, you can make a lot of miney regarding how much afford you put in. Management can be quite forceful when it comes to how many hour you want to work for.

Good team
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Telford - 20 September 2023
Not a bad place to work, they fit in with the hours I could do around my home life, which to me was a bonus as a lot of companies don't do this anymore. Area manager was a nice guy and really helpful. Store management were good too.
Pros
Good discount

Great workplace
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Ashford, Kent - 4 September 2023
The floor staff and the store management are both lovely, the job can get very busy but for the most part its enjoyable. Since its at the outlet, customers can be a bit rude.

Fun but demanding
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Bath, Somerset - 25 August 2023
The job itself is fun, however it is consistent and you are on your feet all day. Working 6 hours without a break. However you are paid a base pay and commission

An all-round constructive and caring work environment. If not having to move cities, I would not be writing this review.
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire - 24 August 2023
During my time at University I worked for Skechers for a total of 2 years, and I can honestly say that during this time, it became a pleasure to work alongside the team. Having not finished university, I would not be writing this review. As other reviews have mentioned, the store is located on a high street surrounded by other retailers with competitive prices, which does have an impact on sales. However, rather than see this as a negative, this is a great opportunity for people wanting to enhance and improve their sales and customer service skills beyond that which basic retail jobs teach- that are then highly transferrable for future occupations. Having worked at Skechers Sheffield, I would now consider myself a much more successful, pro-active, and adaptable sales person - and I put this down not only to the location of the store, but the support and training from the surrounding team. Across the two years, as expected there has been changes to staff, but I can confidently say that there has always remained a sense of community across the team. I think that there are always exceptions to this in any team across all types of jobs, and that some of the existing reviews reflect these types of individuals. Upon starting, I immediately felt welcomed by all staff, who didn't just see me as a colleague, but expressed a genuine want to get to know me personally. The team is extremely welcoming and made the work environment a place that I didn't just attend to earn a wage, but somewhere I actually enjoyed coming to work. Although I did not initially have a strong passion towards -
Pros
Constructive working environment, Attentive and caring management team, Welcoming team, Competitive pay plus commission, Valuable sales skills acquired

Good team, poor management
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Canterbury - 21 August 2023
Great people there, just ashame the manager had no respect for their staff. Training is pretty much as and when so you may not find something out until last minute
Pros
Good pay, decent discount, members of staff are nice
Cons
unreliable hours, lack of training

Nice colleagues, flexible
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Oxford Circus, Greater London - 28 July 2023
Overall this place is good to work, pay is definitely on the lower side for central london and london in general as they want you to try to earn more through commission, some management lack people skills and overall the ability to do their job however overall it is nice environment and good support

Great team structure and a fun environment to work in, with lots of opportunities to learn along the way.
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Bromley - 28 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The best part was the team I worked with (Bromley store). Loved the brand before I joined the company - my experience made me love it even more. Discount and free trainers were quite good. Also liked the fact you got commission too What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The delivery -having to space the stockroom to be able to fit the stock in in numerical order and by department ie kids, women's and men's. Having to work the delivery shift which finished quite late at night. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Really good lots of incentives instore and amongst other stores I your area. Great management support and amazing sales team. Lots of recognition within store What is a typical day like for you at the company? As a member of the management team - getting in to start up tills etc basic management start of day process, planning what you want the team to do, ensuring that the displays are fully stocked at all times and ensuring we're hitting our hourly kpi's

Loved skechers but not for working mothers
Sales Assistant (Part-time) (Former Employee) - Telford and Wrekin - 17 July 2023
I loved my job at skechers and didn't want to leave the company I excelled in my role and was more than capable of being supervisor I wasn't allowed to apply for supervisor because I have children When I took the job I was told my 20 hour contract will be weekdays with the odd overtime shift on the weekend which I why I took the job However I rarely worked in the week at all and I worked all day Saturday and Sunday which gave me no time with my children as they were in school in the week and I was working all weekend every weekend I had to leave due to the damaging effect it was having on my family life ( I have children with SEN) I was gutted that I couldn't stay as the job itself was fun, challenging and rewarding with the customer satisfaction and the commission helped of course
Pros
Great job, challenging, rewarding
Cons
Not for working mothers, terrible work/home life

Area management make it toxic and stressful
Stockroom Supervisor (Current Employee) - Blackpool, Lancashire - 8 July 2023
My manager was good, the area manager had worked there for 3 weeks, and proceeded to swear at our staff, including myself. I was taught nothing, and was expected to complete tasks, then being remanded for not knowing. You are made to feel like a piece of dirt.
Pros
My manager was a nice man, average pay
Cons
Everything else

Fun place to work at
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Ashford, Kent - 25 June 2023
Friendly staff, can be competitive as you do get commission. Supervisor relatively easy job, just helping the staff when it gets busy (repens of stock), handling money etc.

Worst company in the UK.
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - London - 18 June 2023
I will never recommend anyone to work for that god-forsaking company. American visit/Management is only interested in sales. Nobody cares about the people. No training given, you will be given a book to read and memorise about the products. And if you are smart enough and speak out to the HR about what's happening in the store, they will get reed of you. It's the worst company I have ever work for in my life.
Pros
You will be paid correctly
Cons
Poor management practices, Fake products that don't last, Very Toxic environment.
