Sky Employee Review
Steer clear - power-mad management
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne - 10 September 2023
Pro’s: Training was great. Benefits were great. Pay was decent with ability to earn commission on top. Job was fairly easy. Systems straightforward. Easy enough to get to as pretty central. Con’s: management. The management at Sky are truly the worst I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with in my 10+ years of contact centre work. They truly do ruin what would otherwise be a great place to work. 0 humanity. 0 empathy. 0 trustworthiness. Will tell you one thing then deny it completely when it’s brought up again. Total gaslighting. Security-guard with a badge complex. The management team have no understanding of any of the company policies or obligations under employment law and seem elated in their ignorance. They make on-the-spot decisions that do not follow the laws, processes and policies they should be. The management team are so woefully inept that it’s enough to over-ride all the benefit. Do yourself a favour, steer clear!
Pros
Great training
Cons

Great if you like getting yelled at
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne - 3 December 2023
I've worked here 3 years now and it was excellent but the last year the general public has become extremely entitled and ignorant. The majority of customers you deal with are passive aggressive and downright rude, demanding compensation simply for having to call you and you're expected to continue a fri3ndly conversation until they get aggressive when you can then leave the call. I'm excellent at my job and I handle my calls very well however it takes a massive tole on my mental state and leads to regular burn out along with the schedule I'm on the edge of quitting. The schedules are horrible and I used to be okay with them but now I'm older I can't work weekends it's ruining my social life. I'm not actively looking for a 9 to 5 Monday to Friday job as I can't continue with the 4 week rotation, I have no structure to my life anymore
Pros
Discount parking, great food, some free meals, free snacks, TV and broadband, 200plus hours holiday and overtime, free therapy
Cons
9hour 5 days rota, weekends and bankholiday working, limited availability to take holidays, aggressive rude customers daily

The reviews that 90% of ex/colleagues wrote are bang on, it’s target driven, sales driven, unrealistic targets at that, switch over on the flex job is sprung upon you and there is a lack of training whilst the training and academy is all good it’s a false sense of security, management stick to their own and their top sellers, whilst 121 support is there it’s more them telling you where your going wrong & they ask you how they can support you which in sense is good but when you already do your best and it’s not good enough it’s a bit of a let down, true to the word your team - if your in a good one gets you through the hard times & you learn from them. There is good incentives like free food going round the office, candy cart, free tea and coffee, subsidised food is somewhat not cheap, although you do get a choice of a warmer meal everyday consisting of rice and a protein. The company is very multi cultural and everyone is accepted no one is treated any differently so that’s also nice to see. Good bonus incentives if you make a sale, good in house incentives too periodically. Overall it’s not the worst place to be but mentally is extremely draining.
Pros
Free SkyTV, Discounted data plans, broadband & glass subscription. Lunch warmers and incentives and equipment to work from home
Cons
Short breaks, unrealistic targets, favouritism & long hours

Stressful
Sales Advisor (Former Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne - 9 March 2023
I was let go due to quality of my calls. However, when I was being told this I received emails from my managers' manager congratulating me for call quality saying I passed everything and they look forward to seeing me progress within the company. I was told I couldn't work from home and was disciplined for being on sick with covid and asked why I didn't work from home
Pros
Cheap Cantine
Cons
Long hours. Terrible management. Contradictory. wages never on time
