Good work life balance
Trainee (Current Employee) - Canary Wharf - 20 February 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedSociété générale tend to offer lower salaries than its peers and by that politic of low wages doesn’t encourage skilled and talented people to stay in the company. The bank just train peoples for a few years and then just let them go by not offering competitive salary. On the other hand lots of people enjoy SG for its good working environment.
Pros
Good working environment
Cons
Low salary (compared to market), treats trainees like spare, no gym nor discount in nearby gym

Worst place ever
Trader (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 20 September 2023
Only politics, not performance, if you’re good at building political relationships you’ll do well, if not then just choose another company and you’ll be better

Good culture and working atmosphere
Business Analyst (Former Employee) - London - 9 June 2020
I enjoyed working here as the culture is very welcoming and friendly. It also had a good working atmosphere and a lot of the people socialised outside of work.

Jobs at Société Générale
Productive, team and fun workplace
Business Analyst (Former Employee) - Liverpool Street Station, Greater London - 29 May 2020
Very nice organization to work with. I worked within the structured finance group. The role involved working as a Business analyst and also taking the added responsibility of Project Management. The manager was very nice and helpful.

Nice working environment
Legal Advisor (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 10 May 2020
Great colleagues, stressful at times due to lack of knowledge within other teams that you rely on. Difficult processes to follow to complete simple tasks means work progresses slowly. You do feel appreciated and senior management send good messages and seem to value the staff.

Interactive and supportive place to work
Group Head of Tax (Current Employee) - London - 26 January 2020
SocGen is a great place to work. Your colleagues are supportive, there is no blaming culture and you feel part of a great family. Management is supportive and approachable, and they do recognise good work. The workplace culture is to do as much as you can with the minimal resources possible. There is a huge constrain on expenses and costs. People are super nice and the French management style is part of the charm to work for SocGen.
Pros
Full support on training and career development. Great Benefits programme.
Cons
Work/Life balance, very long hours and reduced staff

No career growth
Global Markets (Current Employee) - London - 9 January 2020
Very poor development of junior staff who are all on short-term temporary contracts. Hence, salaries are also low.
Both middle and senior management is very weak, but good at playing politics.
Extremely bureaucratic and will shut down any ideas to change existing procedures.
Toxic

Not competitive
none (Former Employee) - Tower Hill Station - 29 November 2019
Pure French culture and no room for career development. It’s not a good place very experienced people who have ambition. On this basis, I won’t recommend this bank to anyone

Relaxed environment
(SGEF) - Head of Office Equipment Channel (Current Employee) - Richmond upon Thames, Greater London - 28 October 2019
It was a great business with nice people, however they are a little rudderless with their strategy. They started to business development with my new position and then after four years decided to close due to head office restrictions.
