Hard and rewarding but difficult long nights
Handover from the previous shift to update all staff on new shift. I would allocate who is to work where and then I would do my medication round which would finish about midnight. Checking on all staff and units throughout the night, I would ensure smooth running of the shift and be there for the staff if there are any problems. Every shift is different and tends to bring new challenges. As a night shift it is taxing especially the last couple of hours which become extremely busy. Overall it is hard and quite continuous throughout the night. As a small team you all have to get along and pull together and be prepared to help each other out if required. To ensure that all records are accurate and updated before the end of the shift.
