Toxic workplace
Support Worker (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 7 December 2022
Ironically SLAM is a mental health trust and the community mental health team ruined my mental health to the point of no return. On initial introduction, I realised that there is no regard for newbies and you shadow your way through the job. CPN’s are overworked and have unrealistic caseload numbers. Management is lax and lack professionalism. There are cliques and a lack of respect for staff. Support workers are under appreciated and micromanaged to the point where you feel bullied and singled out
Pros
None
Cons
9/5, lucky if your attendance is acknowledged

productive and serious working environment.
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - London - 20 January 2021
Working at the hospital was a complete different expectation to what i imagined it to be. its well maintained and everyone is very determined. of course they would be, its a hospital! but for some reason i imagined it to be very scary and all the workers are moving quickly. A Typical day at work is spending time with the elderly patients and just speaking with them about their life's and latest news. it was a very sweet environment and despite being at a mental ward it was a very calming atmosphere which made me feel safe. the most enjoyable part of the job was when i completed care packages and supported patients with their meal times.
Pros
free lunches
Cons
long hours of hard work

No room for advancement this trust is not for me its really does not meet my need and my family needs any longer. I just have to move on since upper management is an old boys club.

Working in mhoa could be challenging at times but also very rewarding to achieve making a difference to someone's life. Every day could bring different challenges but we all supported one another. NHS struggles impacting all aspects
Psychiatry Doctor (Current Employee) - London - 6 March 2018
Unfortunately like large parts of NHS, especially Mental Health - struggling with understaffing. This then impacts on the efficiency of the services and even on the safety of staff, with often extremely unwell patients being managed by less staff than required. This can result in low morale.
