It’s decent

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
It can be stressful, but interesting. Sometimes feels poorly managed but it really depends on your manager and team. Long hours, 12-14 hours. It can be dangerous sometimes.

Interesting workplace, perfect for a quick learner

I worked at the Maudsley as part of their bank staff. This made the job interesting as it involved movement between the Maudsley and the Bethlam hospitals supporting the various departments as needed. If you are a quick learner and prefer a varied routine then this may be the place to look.

Pros

A learning environment

Cons

Some assignments are challenging

Unsupportive management

The support given to junior staff from the upper management is very poor and staff are generally underappreciated. There are numerous managers with roles that no one really knows what it is they actually do on a daily basis.

Pros

Colleagues

Cons

Unsupportive and dismissive management system.

lewisham hospital great and friendly environment.

lewisham hospital has a great and friendly environment. the hospital to work for a company where opportunities are available to employees. I love the satisfaction of a happy customer and always strive to work to best of my ability and always working above the average standard. I am always looking for something new and something that would provide a challenge. I like to be challenged. Also, I believe that working would provide me with the experience and funds to become more independent in life.

Pros

1 hour lunch

Can be very static

Overall a pleasant place to work, but advised to take up all training and to keep abreast of changes that happen rapidly. It is a fast paced environment.

Pros

many different sectors of employment

Cons

poor career progression

reasonable place to work

What am reviewing !! A typical day could be that will be taking a patient to hospital appointment. whereby you make sure that section 17 paper sign by the ward consultant in advance. And you need to do all the necessary documentation. The hospital name and the time of going and time coming back Also you need to arrange for transport to get you there and back. plus you need the escorting staff at least 2 staff.

As temporary worker who worked there for a short period, I liked how the staff and management were friendly, helpful, understanding and I was trained

The staff and management were very friendly, helpful. I was trained, given support when required. I enjoyed learning about what illnesses the clients can have, how the teams seek to support them and the various services available.

Pros

Training, good salary

Good

I enjoyed working there and it's have a patient's centred approached in place which guide the staffs as a tool. Amazing site both the Bethlehem Royal Hospital and the maudsley

ITs ok

No room for advancement this trust is not for me its really does not meet my need and my family needs any longer. I just have to move on since upper management is an old boys club.

No two days the same

Typical days would involve advise and guidance. I learned numerous things including payroll calculations, clinical audit, the implication of national legislation at local levels. How to combat staff conflict. Team management. Event organisation. I forged numerous sucessful working relationships it was an unofficial given when issues arose 'ask Andrea'.

Pros

Varied working days, pro activity appreciated

Cons

None that I can readily think of

Challenging but rewarding

Dealing with service users with mental health problems. Learnt a lot about the differences with mental health. Very mismanaged. The workplace sometimes very cold and clinical. Hardest part of the job was dealing with the service users.

Pros

Challenging

Cons

Long hours

A good Hospital and a good place to work and learn

I have worked at Lewisham NHS for over eight years both in Lewisham Hospital and also Lewisham Community Healthcare. I thoroughly enjoy working at Lewisham Hospital. Although it can be challenging at times and extremely busy Lewisham Hospital is very supportive in staff training, providing a number of courses for staff to do which helps a lot. Lewisham Hospital is very committed to patient care and tries its best to manage the needs of patients. Management are not always supportive and can be hard to contact, workload can be heavy going but overall I enjoy working here. It is a good Hospital, always trying to do well and support all. I would recommend working here, but you have to be dedicated and hard working and prepared to be flexible.

Pros

Learning and commitment to do well

Cons

Workload and management
