Support Worker (Current Employee) - Lewisham, Greater London - 9 August 2023

The most useful review selected by IndeedIt can be stressful, but interesting. Sometimes feels poorly managed but it really depends on your manager and team. Long hours, 12-14 hours. It can be dangerous sometimes.

I worked at the Maudsley as part of their bank staff. This made the job interesting as it involved movement between the Maudsley and the Bethlam hospitals supporting the various departments as needed. If you are a quick learner and prefer a varied routine then this may be the place to look.

Unsupportive management
Ward manager (Former Employee) - Lewisham, Greater London - 26 September 2019
The support given to junior staff from the upper management is very poor and staff are generally underappreciated. There are numerous managers with roles that no one really knows what it is they actually do on a daily basis.
Pros
Colleagues
Cons
Unsupportive and dismissive management system.

lewisham hospital has a great and friendly environment. the hospital to work for a company where opportunities are available to employees. I love the satisfaction of a happy customer and always strive to work to best of my ability and always working above the average standard. I am always looking for something new and something that would provide a challenge. I like to be challenged. Also, I believe that working would provide me with the experience and funds to become more independent in life.

Housekeeper/support worker (Former Employee) - River house Monks orchard Road Beckenham BR3 3BX - 14 June 2019
What am reviewing !! A typical day could be that will be taking a
patient to hospital appointment. whereby you make sure that section 17 paper sign by the ward consultant in advance.
And you need to do all the necessary documentation.
The hospital name and the time of going and time coming back
Also you need to arrange for transport to get you there and back. plus you need the escorting staff at least 2 staff.

No room for advancement this trust is not for me its really does not meet my need and my family needs any longer. I just have to move on since upper management is an old boys club.

A good Hospital and a good place to work and learn
Medical Secretary (Current Employee) - Lewisham, Greater London - 8 November 2018
I have worked at Lewisham NHS for over eight years both in Lewisham Hospital and also Lewisham Community Healthcare.
I thoroughly enjoy working at Lewisham Hospital. Although it can be challenging at times and extremely busy Lewisham Hospital is very supportive in staff training, providing a number of courses for staff to do which helps a lot. Lewisham Hospital is very committed to patient care and tries its best to manage the needs of patients. Management are not always supportive and can be hard to contact, workload can be heavy going but overall I enjoy working here. It is a good Hospital, always trying to do well and support all. I would recommend working here, but you have to be dedicated and hard working and prepared to be flexible.
Pros
Learning and commitment to do well
Cons
Workload and management
