Administrative Assistant in Durrington, West Sussex

Moment too greedy
Don't care about their staff. If you are lucky you get a manager who listens and encourages, I was lucky, but others not so. Expect you to work beyond your hours. All geared to Exec and non Exec for their bonuses

Hard working teams
under a lot of pressure but always get the work done After a recent cull in people the work has been building and deadlines are harder to meet. Great team of people who always help each other out. Hours can be long but they need to be. Management are stretched but try their best to create a good workplace for their teams.

Not the worst, but also wouldn't recommend it!
This started off as a good place to work with good benefits, incentives, lots of fun staff events etc, however throughout the years I was there the good parts continued to be more and more stripped back, leaving SW as a place with really low moral (mainly due to the constant threat of redunancies etc.) Not a very enjoyable place to work basically! Since I've gone they've also now announced 200 more redundancies in customer services, so it's safe to say there's no job security here anymore! I noticed that managers don't really do much for their salaries and expect those lower down to basically do all the work for them. They just spend all their time in meetings. They have very clear favourites too - basically if you are that favourite, you will go far, but if not you don't stand much of a chance! SW have big (if unrealistic) ambitions and want to improve in the customer service league tables, but seem to go the wrong way about it time and time again and never learn. This was down to decisions made from those higher up and not the people on the front line working hard every day, so didn't help for morale either. However, in saying all of this, the salary was very good for an admin role and that's what kept me there for a while. There was a payrise every year I was there. The hours were also good too. I learned a lot (more so in my earlier years) and I'm grateful for that, but wouldn't recommend them as a place to go and work for now. I took a small pay cut to go and work elsewhere and feel much happier for it.

Mixed Review
Great team and colleagues and delivered results supported by immediate management. Training and development was encouraged and supported in my team. Good work life balance for my role. Business is consistently reacting to issues rather than addressing the root cause and is now paying the price with regulatory fines due to the behaviours of a few leading to significant cost cutting, outsourcing and redundancies.
