Sovereign Housing Association Careers and Employment

Although you get a shiny van filled with materials, the work is not desirable at all.You won't be trade specific they will have you doing everything weather you've gone for a multi trade roll or not. They supposedly have a department for mental health. Upon voicing my issues mentally with my boss, I was always told I'd be supported untill one day I was called into the office to meet a manager I'd never seen before, who told me I couldn't opperate the work vehicle as I have mental health issues that impact my sleeping pattern. I chose to leave as I did not wish to work for a company who did not properly understand mental health.My concerns were made valid when after I informed the 2 managers I was leaving one of which replied 'you're ok though? You're not going to jump in front of a bus or something are you?'It wasn't untill a few months after I had left I realised just how wrong that was to say to someone. Not good enough from a multi million pound company.

Not great

Inadequate management and staff treated like children. Incredibly cliquey so if you are not part of one then good luck. Do not have many nice things to say.

poor management

Manager of the safety team very poor,more worried about their progression rather than H&S or the team under them..no support and and quick to put you on the black list if you dare to question or ask "WHY"They have lost 1/2 dozen HS advisors in as many months....the salary is decent but its the poor management and lack of direction that encourages staff to go for the door :( :(..They dont even have the decency to ask why you are leaving ??l

toxic and unrewarding

Difficult to put into words just how awful working at Sovereign is. It's one of those places that when you do leave you wish you'd done it a lot earlier. There are a lot of bullies in senior management and when you try to challenge this it just comes back on you.Sovereign puts a lot of time and money into making itself look good but if you try to challenge anything to make services better for residents you get shut down. They just aren't interested. It's phoney.If you're a 'Yes' person, you'll get on fine here. If you're not, they'll work the last drop out of you and you won't get any thanks
