Little opportunity to progress as juniors came in , took the roles and got paid more .
Property Valuer (Former Employee) - Kent - 5 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? They have good training programs What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Their senior management team and HR team are a shambles. They also never promote from within and hire people who aren’t experienced and pay them more than long standing experienced staff What is the work environment and culture like at the company? In my direct office, lovely , but as a whole company… it was toxic as experienced king standing staff were not recognised at all What is a typical day like for you at the company? Lovely within my office but it’s the head office and senior management that’s the problem

Shame I cannot give 0 stars
Administrator (Former Employee) - Croydon - 28 November 2023
Not possible to give 0 stars unfortunately. This is the worst company I worked for and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Besides treating staff like numbers there is also a threatening attitude after you leave this company. You also get blackmailed if you don’t do what is asked. Not sure if the owners know but it would be nice to give them heads up.

Nothing

Everything

Be cautious!
Area Partner (Former Employee) - South West - 25 July 2023
I joined during a period of scaling back up of Spicerhaart after they made 300 people redundant as soon as the COVID epidemic started. I had real hesitations and concerns, but was reassured by the EAD and MD at the time that the investment promised for cold starting the area I would be leading would be seen through. Sadly, this proved not to be the case with zero investment in the premises which had been mothballed for 2 years nor was the marketing investment seen through, I was then one of we believe around 70 to be made redundant shortly before 2 years service. Be VERY aware of a repeated pattern if considering a role here
Pros
Pay competitive, extremely capable EAD (estate agency director) in my case
Cons
Poorly executed business planning without financial commitment, very much an attitude of people being disposable

Dreaded every day
Personal Move Assistant (Former Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 1 June 2023
Awful. Seemed inviting at first. Management are like kids in a school playground, sending messages back and forth all day long making nasty remarks about employees. Hours and hostile work environment are draining and pay is bare minimum. Never constructive feedback, particularly high level of staff turnover says it all. A dull, hostile, anxious and over all toxic working environment. Managers will have less senior or new members of staff working to the ground whilst sitting chatting all day but if you go a second over your 10 minutes personal time per day, it’s docked from your pay and you get screamed at. No interest in staff well-being what so ever. Was a new starter and had issues with a headset, resulted in being scrutinised for not handling calls properly. Horrible company to work for, awful pay, dreaded waking up in the morning. There’s a reason there is SUCH a high turnover off staff and that no one lasts long. 100% agree with the majority awful reviews on here.

Insights into Spicerhaart
Areas for improvement
- Trust in colleagues
- General feeling of work happiness
- Energising work tasks
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid
Lettings Negotiator (Former Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 3 February 2022
The most awful company to work for. Under stress all the time. Seriously bad environment. Uncaring. Competitive. The way to move up is to dress up for the lads and then you'll get promoted. Wish I was kidding. I saw so many young women losing their identities to fit the mould because the expectation on you to dress a certain way was so great in order to be successful and even liked. I wouldn't and didn't try and fit in to be somebody that I'm not, so I was the outsider, and even without the office politics, it was the most stressful, thankless, and awful job I've ever had the displeasure of accepting.
Pros
Absolutely nothing.
Cons
Everything. And then some.

Steer clear!
Property Management Manager (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 26 January 2022
After nearly two years, excelled at my role and turned the area around but received no thanks or recognition. I'll mannered and ungrateful management. No support when needed Constant pressure from management who are not interested in you but just numbers! Expected to work ridiculous hours with no work-life balance at all and still that was not enough! No support when received verbal abuse from another member of staff on several occasions. Staff turnover is constant. Not even a phone call from my upline when I resigned or during my Notice period.
Pros
None
Cons
Long Hours Management Unrealistic expectations

Property managment
Property Manager (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 16 December 2021
Property management turnover is very high, generally due to constant push from management for nothing in return, life-balance is not there 8:30-6pm and 2 Saturdays in the month 9-1pm and be prepared to work Bank Holidays. People coming and going, constant stress.
Pros
I think only company car
Cons
Long hours, low pay, whole department running like "headless chickens"

A fast paced environment who reward those who are successful
Management (Current Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 14 December 2021
Hard work but you are rewarded for this. Plenty of development opportunities and incentives for high performers including trip abroad. If you ask for support this is always on hand.
Pros
Commission/bonus, incentives and hard work acknowledged
Cons
Covid restrictions

Worst job ever
Personal move assistant (Former Employee) - Colchester - 27 November 2021
If you enjoy being gas lighted then work for this company! Being pressured to come in when your sick, which is absolutely ridiculous in a pandemic, deducting your pay check if you dare to go 1 minute over your 10 minute per day allowance for toilet break...pressure to self learn whilst doing several tasks simultaneously- all for barely above minimum wage! No allowances for anyone that has a different style of learning, don't even think about asking for extra training!
Pros
There are none
Cons
You will be under pressure constantly

Personal Move Consultant
Personal Move Consultant (Former Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 15 October 2021
Flourished title for a Customer service agent. No Management support, always critical and never complimentary. Inflated sense of self. Management expect staff expected to do admin tasks such as floor plans and photo editing however management cant do the jobs themselves. Program and system training video based and done while on calls which is difficult and you get reprimanded if you don't remain on calls or do training at the same time, reducing the quality given to clients. Older staff are arrogant and lazy and expect new staff to carry the work load while they converse and muck about. If queries continue past your shift time its your problem, you dont get paid but if you are 1 minute late they are on your back. Promise of internal growth but promotional roles filled externally. Overall a complete joke
Pros
You get a salary
Cons
Overworked, underpaid, undervalued, treated badly

Bad experience
Personal Move Assistant (Former Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 25 May 2021
I enjoyed the job up until around a year ago. The pandemic hit, was furloughed around April time which was fair and then taken back. From the day I came back to Spicerhaart nothing but regret in my mind. New management took over and they were not interested in staff well-being only how much money you were making them. Under constant pressure and as I said you were not checked upon. You only heard from management if you were doing something wrong. All the staff I’ve spoken with are unhappy the reviews on here speak for themselves.
Pros
Pay ok
Cons
Stressful work. Under appreciated

Over worked under paid
Property Manager (Current Employee) - Head Office - 11 March 2021
If you work hard you get nowhere, if you are a brown nose you get far. Not a good environment for your confidence or self esteem. Promises of promotion if ..... but it never happens even if you hit targets. Restructuring means demotion
Pros
Varied work
Cons
Unrealistic targets, incentives of trips abroad very few workers go but all management go

No job security, stressful work
Personal Move Assistant (Former Employee) - Colchester - 12 October 2020
The team are lovely, supervisors are a mixed bag and management couldn’t care less. They let a lot of people go just before lockdown, no furlough, and it’s pretty stressful.
Pros
Free coffee
Cons
No job security

Like to be shouted at?
Agent (Former Employee) - Essex - 12 August 2020
In all honesty the staff (not management ) were the only good thing, oh and maybe the sandwich lady.
There was no job progression, if you wasn't hitting target you was shouted at in front of the whole centre. Training was not really there you would just sit with someone and told to watch then expected to go solo after. if management didnt hit their target they would take it out on individuals . saw staff walk out many of times after confrontation with a manager
Not professional at all. They would judge everyone coming in for an interview based on what they look like. Sink or swim they say..
Pros
the agents
Cons
being shouted at all the time, lack of progression, poor management, lack of support

Absolutely awful
Branch Manager (Former Employee) - Wolverhampton, West Midlands - 28 July 2020
Worked with Spicerhaart for 9 months after being in estate agency for 17 years. Awful company talk all about 'family' would not want to be in their family if that's how they treat family.
Ridiculous targets, threats of job loss if not hitting them. I've worked for bigger corporate companies and have never wanted to leave a negative review but Spicerhaart must be avoided at all costs.

Cons
Low commisson. Long working days

Very poor
Sales Negotiator (Former Employee) - Cheshire - 3 June 2020
Worst company I have ever worked for. Negative signs from the start, I went in for 2 ‘interviews’ within a 4 month period not once was I asked any relevant questions. Very slow process. Once I started I was unable to work on computers for the first 2 weeks as my employee number wasn’t ready. I had no training and was just expected to work as a fully trained sales negotiator, baring in mind I had never worked in this line of work before. The worst management, which was known to the other employees also. No support and was just left to my own devices. Commission for a sale of a house is diabolical. Work and life balance was awful, had to work every Saturday and never 2 days off together. No furlough, no reason as to why, no expenses paid back, I could go on and on... you’re just a number.

Over worked and underpaid
Negotiator (Former Employee) - Warwickshire - 1 March 2020
Initially I enjoyed working for this company however I feel one of the main problems was the regional partner who would consistently make you feel like you’re not very good at your job despite all the hard work you have put in.
She was very good at criticising you and telling you what you had done wrong but wouldn’t give you any constructive criticism or any extra coaching to show you how it should be done.
You would be made to feel like you should be grateful for being paid less than minimum wage as your basic salary for working 50 hours plus a week. I found the visits from the regional partner pointless as she would spend the day gossiping about other people in the region who she didn’t like.
I felt very unappreciated and treated was like a child because you were constantly monitored. There was not much opportunity for career progression. Myself and my other colleagues were held back from progression by the regional partner. I was told I’m not hitting my unrealistic targets consistently so I won’t get a promotion but I wasn’t offered any help to try and improve this, I think the only way of getting a promotion here is if you were her favourite.
It’s a shame because I did like the people who I worked with but because I wanted to have a life outside of work as well and this is just not possible with this job. I wouldn’t mind putting in all of this hard work if it was actually appreciated and reflected in my pay but sadly it was not.
I would strongly advise to stay away from working at this company or at least in the Warwickshire region.
