Stressful, dangerous, deflating.Unsupportive duty managers, sat in the office all day. Expect to work by yourself and split yourself into 4 versions. Unsafe at times because you are rushing around so much, slips trips and falls. Not enough safety for staff regarding COVID restrictions and the owners letting non residents dine all the time yet not having enough staff to cover the residents. Training is poor, you’ll be trained by “trainers” that are 16 years of age. Although they are keen individuals, you’ll be taught mistakes and errors. No team of staff moral as every department is understaffed and just getting by, by spreading themselves so thinly. The tips are shared quarterly so a hefty amount is taken out for tax. They mess up your wages and holiday pay quite easily so make sure you’re writing all your hours down and have access to your wage slips. You access your wage slips via email and it requires a passcode to view them. Expect to wait a while for said passcode. It’s has a big back stabbing culture and atmosphere. As the departments don’t support one another. Also expect to be cleaning a lot as it’s a big premises with a lot of glass, no cleaners so restaurant and bar staff have unrealistic daily/weekly cleaning rotas. That they still expect to be finished yet short staffed everywhere. The managers aren’t supportive of each other, some are experienced but aren’t productive with that and others aren’t that experienced but are willing. So the management are not very balanced which leads to supervisors feeling more stress than they should leaving them unable to do their job roles. Bar work is very slap dash. Glass wash machines are on their back legs so expect to be low on glasses all the time and polishing them a couple of times each as the glass washer is poor. Also the cocktails they charge £9-£10 for are premixed cartons so in area of development you won’t get much when it comes to mixology. The breakfast shifts are relentless never enough of any products or prep. Overall you’ll enjoy the views and building but you’re not there for that. The staff area is next to the cellar underground, dark and dingy. The staff toilets are in this area also, not very sanitary and spiders in all areas.
