Was good to start with

Pay isn’t enough to live on anymore and you’re just a number, no air con/heating when its needed, poor management, the only good thing I can say about working here is the vast majority of your colleagues are decent but its a revolving door people come people go

Bad shifts

If you have children or a partner. This job will put a strain on your relationship. Had me doing nine days in a row without day off . Just keeping it inside the regulations.

A company managed by Numpties and supervised by backstabbers

Round Two of working for this company and the management style continues to be based on indirect threats by senior management playing off supervisors that are nothing more than scared frightened jobsworths who won't take responsibility for themselves let alone those under them. The reason for such a high turnover of drivers is simply down to mismanagement and burnout of drivers being made to work rest days and holidays....

Pros

Restricted 'free' travel

Cons

Bad management, disrespect for their staff !!!

Basic driving

Generally good company to work for. Some routes are impossible to keep to time. Breaks added to shifts make a long day even longer. Good to just be out on your own driving and meeting people.

Great Place to Work

Arrive at work, talk with colleauges, get the Bus ready, now time to go and meet new people, back to the depot, talk with colleauges then go home.Easy as that.

Opportunities

I've been given opportunities to learn and move beyond what was previously possible for me with the help of Stagecoach's trade up apprenticeship scheme. I am now working towards becoming a qualified mechanic, whilst keeping my bus drivers salary.

Pros

Opportunity

Cons

Can be unsocial hours as a driver.

He'll on earth

Long hours, stress, anger, anxiety, depression and misery. This all coming from a management team who don't know how to treat their employees. Drivers angry, passengers angry, and management know all this and the saddest part is they DON'T CARE.

Great learning experience due to the very knowledgeable instructors.

All the advertisements about Stagecoach are very misleading.Do your research before becoming a bus driver. The hours are not only very long but not helped by the split shifts.

Not worth the money

Complete lack of communication from any management. Work life balance is pretty awful as shifts can be changed on you whenever they feel like it. The buses are ancient and falling apart

Pros

Free travel

Cons

Long shifts and bad rotas

5 months of training. Gained my D license.

This is a good place to go if you want to gain a D license whilst being paid. The mentor stage is not good. Bus driving is a boring job, but suits some people.I would say 'get the licence' then look for a better job.

Pros

Free training

Cons

Bad shifts and some bad people.

good colleague’s, bad management

Great Colleague’s, Bad Management, can be long hours if you do the overtime and there is plenty of it, but just say “NO” if you don’t want any, as they do tend to badger you all the time, also a lot of favouritism we’re the best duties go, especially at the weekend’s on rest day work.

Poor & Awful Management

The bus industry is stuck in a time warp, it belongs in an episode of Call the Midwife, the way people are treated belongs in that period of time, bullying and favouritism is common management working practices.

Felt part of a team

They need drivers so they’re not out to make life difficult for you. My experience with HR was always a positive one. Their staff members couldn’t be more helpful and very pleasant.

Pros

Job security

Cons

Long unsocial hours.

You have been warned

A great bunch of drivers who are always willing to help you out, but the company couldn't care less about their drivers. You are always guilty until proved innocent, and the company WILL sack you at any opportunity. Pay is among the worst of all companies. Can't get your holidays when you need them. The list goes on.

Not great unless your a brown noser

Fact if you have an accident first one they tell you don’t let it happen again or you’ll be under investigation and every little thing you get pulled in for, give you unsafe buses to drive, lack of staff, 9 days in a row then want you to work your day off. There isn’t enough training regarding ticket machines literally 20 mins in a classroom.Managers look after the white shirts but not the blue, if you question anything your time is limited.

Not Bad…….But not great

Pay is rubbish, managers wield the axe to readily. But training was top notch and job gives you mountains of experience. So all in all not bad place to start a career with the buses

Long hours unpaid breaks

Poor staff morale, management not interested in workers except when disciplined for the least little thing, things that for the most part due to poor health and safety

Stay Away

It's a nightmare job, made worse by a useless depot manager and a duty manager who seems to pluck the rota out of thin air. You'll have no work life balance and the passengers, understandably, will give you verbal daily due to Stagecoach keep dropping their services randomly without warning.Do yourself a favour and start elsewhere. I notice they've been running job adverts promising the world - wise up.

Pros

Absolutely None

Cons

Too many to list

Fast paced environment

Fast paced environment juggling 10 things at a time but not physically draining! Great work culture with the other drivers! Customers can be challenging at times but other drivers could advise you and bring up ideas on how to deal with it

Good

Okay job but will get stressful very quickly. Long duties with little rest. Constantly asked to do overtime. Very little reward and recognition. High turnover of staff.
