Indeed featured review

No compassion from management no work life balance. Not if any procedures to keep staff safe. When staff get hurt sick all management care about is when are you coming back to work. Management think they are above GPs and Specialist. Front line staff great look out for eachother apart from the odd online keyboard worrior's

Poor pay and stressful job

The people who make the company are the employees. The management is really poor and you are under paid for the amount of abuse you have to put up with from passengers. There is no support from managers and your mental welfare takes a battering. You are worked into the ground and you are so tired on your days off you only want to sleep

A job

I worked for stagecoach supertram if you a job that's not 9 to 5 this is for you and like to laugh and joke with passengers and are out going great this is for you if you dont like working silly shift patterns and only 1 in 4 weekends or sometimes longer off this is not for you

Easy & quite enjoyable job

I worked as a conductor & on the whole it is not a bad job - long shifts but the job is what you make it . You get to meet a variety of plenty people . The job is quite easy once you get to know all the tickets etc . It can be hard work as the buses do get busy but the time soon flies in . The negatives of the job comes from management or so called management - their treatment of staff who are off unwell due to health problems is disgusting . They have no compassion and want you back to work at any cost . Unfortunately my health suffered as I came back to work too early due to them harassing me & now I can no longer do the job . Staff who are off with a Doctors certificate are treated abysmally . The problem is not with Stagecoach but the depot I worked from was a disgrace . I have never seen so many staff leave in such a short space of time & good staff at that . Would not recommend working at the depot I experienced .

no work/life balance. poor management with lack of people skills.

I have worked here for several years and it was a fairly enjoyable job, until the new management took over. It is now all stick and no carrot. You only have to sneeze the wrong way and you can be in the office under investigation. The new management seem to think the staff are always wrong and the passengers are always right. I have seen many good colleagues leave over the last few years, only to get replaced by new staff, that stop a couple of years at most. Yet this does not ring alarm bells for the management. Some of the managers are lacking in interpersonal skills. The turn round from shifts can be rubbish, you can finish on your rest day and then start earlies the next day. The only thing that keeps a lot of us here, is the pay is not bad for what we do.

Pros

free travel on trams and buses, fairly decent pay

Cons

long shifts, short breaks, faceless management

I enjoy this type of work

I collect fares, give service advice to passages, inform passengers of ticket prices and tickets on offer, I have dealt with major disruption due to track replacement works. I have to deal with cash handling on a daily basis.

Pros

dealing with passengers and staff I work with

Cons

fare evaders
