No work life balance

Indeed featured review

Job is very stressful, trying to deal with difficult passengers whilst keeping to a schedule is hard work. The shifts are all over the place, as are your days off, no overtime rate for any extra hours either. If you finish late you need to fill in a big form just to be paid for the extra minutes.Definitely not a job if you have a social life or kids

Non stop

Management is the worst part of the job, constantly on your back. Buses could be old and uncomfortable, some without working air con / heating. Schedules too tight

ok job, if you come to work on time, stay off radar

Decent place to work, managers ok-ish, however control team ,,old school'', so called ,,senior controller'' changes his mood faster than a woman on her period''.Drivers brilliant, very helpful - good atmosphere.

A satisfying job if you like driving but also dealing with the public.

A great job when out on the road, but once you get back to the depot is when the problems start, I will keep it short, Bad Management!! Literally no compassion whatsoever when it comes to things like work life balance etc.

Free Bus Travel, own boss when out on the road.

Long hours, Shifts designed for profit not driver friendly. Lack of flexibility, still run like its the 1950's.

If your face fits

It’s a decent job let down by management / supervisors and their “if your face fits” culture. If you enjoy driving and speaking to people then it’s a good job and the banter with other drivers is the thing I loved most about working there however the buses are well past their sell by date with defects being reported time and time again and nothing being done. If you refuse to take a bus out because of a defect, some controllers will pressure and belittle you to try and get you to take a potentially dangerous bus out anyway. In regards to the “if your face fits” culture amongst management, in my time at Aberdeen a driver had around 6 months bus driving experience before becoming a controller which causes them to be quite clueless with a large amount of issues they are dealing with and it became common knowledge among drivers that this controller only got the job because their face fits with management and they are good mates with those higher up and not necessarily because they’re the best person for the job.Staff turnover at Stagecoach is always high but Aberdeen seems to go above and beyond in that regards. In 1 year at Aberdeen they’ve gone through multiple assistant operations managers, countless drivers and I’ve seen close to 10 controllers either leave the company completely or move to other roles, including going back to driving roles.

Worst place to work

It is not a good place to work o to start your career. They are crying out that it is not enough staff but once they recruit staff they are not treating you fairly. The management it is treating you like a number not like a human being . As a trainee they are expecting you after 15 hours of driving to drive as a pro they are not offering you any chances if you not passing the tests and they will dismiss you . For that reason they are always looking for staff . In the cantina they don’t even have coups to drink water . Overall stay away from this company.

Bad management

Great job, poor balance

Great company to work for, turn up, drive your bus, go home, but the shift patterns are appealing and the pay is terrible for the level of responsibility given

The actual job doesn't match the advert.

If you've a family or enjoy your time off or are a schedule orientated person who likes to plan ahead, then this job isn't for you.You won't know the hours you're working until the Sunday before the week starts. If going for an interview, you'll be told anything just to get you in the door because they're desperate for drivers. They'll say all the right things but the reality is you'll regret taking the job in the very first week.

They need drivers so your job will be secure as long as you can suffer it.

unbalanced hours, little notice of rota, poor communication

Used to be good

The company is more concerned with virtue signalling and pushing box tickers into higher positions even if they aren't good at their job, management are bullies and have it out for you if you aren't scared of them.

Everything, poor shift patterns, no life work balance, underpaid, c**p management

Could be great, but management gets in the way

There could be a million ways that this could be the best job on offer.. however due to the micromanagement that exists and there being a culture of taking pleasure in making a driver's life difficult for making an honest mistake.Management would rather be autocratic and damaging to a driver's self worth instead of showing any kind of consideration or understanding.

Time alone to yourself, Driving buses

Great place to work

Great place to work! Can be somewhat stressful at times. Most Sundays off, and there is flexibility with the rosters. I was on the 94 route in Cheltenham permanently and that suited me well.

Decent place to work if you can handle shift work.

Stagecoach are a good employer to work for and the management at my depot were decent and the other staff are friendly. Company is currently going through a restructure/take-over just now and it's caused a lot on unease with staff. The pay for domestic drivers could be better at certain depots as well if they truly want to encourage drivers to join and stay at the firm. All in all, they are a decent employer to work for and I enjoyed my time here. Only left to try out something else, but they are one of the better bus firms to work for and management just let you get on with your job..

Management terrible

I had wanted to become a bus driver for a long while so I decided to try out stagecoach, the first few weeks were okay and everything went downhill from there, management don't give a toss about your or your well being they will work to the ground and don't support you in any situation, there is a high turnover of staff because of the appalling treatment of workers, the only plus side are your fellow drivers who are always on hand to help

Great team spirit

Great people to work with, good staff moral, beautiful scenery, job security, plenty of overtime, if you love driving and are a workaholic you will love this job.

Friendly work environment

Long hours, varied start and finish times, weekend working

Long days

Long hours, pay is not good. I worked at Stratford upon Avon depot. Some good lads there that I will miss. But Leamington depot you have your snakes. Management weren't too bad to be fair. No room for progression. If your face fits then you can get promoted to the office. Long days. Pays not great. Had to leave there as the hours were getting ridiculous and the shifts. They promise flexible hours but if you have a spare week they put you in for 50 hours. If you want long hours at £12 an hour crack on. You have to work nearly every weekend weekend rate is better £14 something

Good place

Good place to work, the salary could be better, but they support you all the way until you become a fully qualified dirver. At least in Chester where I worked, the manager always there to help, is not the paradise, it is not perfect like nothing is perfect.
