Would not recommend, management do not appreciate you at all, and have zero consideration for your health and well-being, expected to repair vehicles in minutes without parts, also expect you to put your own life in danger to repair a vehicle and expect you to break company policy while out on breakdowns just to get the vehicle back.

Not good.

Worked there for 12 years,at a start management knew the job .Before I left engineering run by people who didn,t care about state of buses as long as services were met .Not a good place to work.

Complete shambles to work for

Stagecoach East is a joke to work for they will send you for training on how they would like you to work then when doing things as instructed complain that the jobs haven't been fast enough. Hard work is very unlikely to get you promoted brown nosing to the higher ups will though despite how little work you do. The managers have no idea how to run a company or manage people effectively. Your pay will frequently be wrong I have never know a large company to be so poor with pay as of the time of writing this we still haven't received our full back pay from a pay rise in December it now mid march. I could go on all day but I think you get the idea good luck if you apply here.

Management at Stockport are bullies and the foreman was clueless. Couldn't/wouldnt answer questions asked to him about the job. Staff there were friendly enough but some backstabbers too

Not a good working environment,

Being employed in the workshop environment, Micro management, back stabbing from so called workmates, Bullying management clueless about mechanical issues, Overall working practices are pretty poor, Personally would never travel on Stagecoach buses knowing what actually happens ,

Home time

Micro management, Back stabbing colleagues

Genuine review

Stagecoach is not the worst company to work for. The fleet of vehicles are relatively modern and the company set very high standards to which the vehicles are maintained at. However, management are the downside, not so much higher management but the depot manager himself. Majority of the time it is the mechanics who are running the garage. The shift patterns are old fashioned and not suited for a family. The shifts consist of backshift, early shift and dayshift. During your backshift you are expected to do the job of 6 people (Mechanic, electrician, body man, breakdown attendant, security guard and manager) The wages do not reflect on the workload that is expected of you. In the short time I worked there I found a worrying lack of skill and knowledge in the engineering dept. Managers with barely any understanding of the job and a lack of care for the decisions they make. Culture on shop floor is backward and aged, failing to move with times despite the upper management's attempts to change it. That said it is very slow paced if that's what you're looking for

Awful management, not bad colleagues

Management don’t have a clue or care about staff, only concerned about making sure vehicles are on the road at all times, regardless of condition, so will happily push people to do bodge jobs etc. Work hours aren’t bad depending on shift pattern etc

Sick pay, hours not awful if on day shift

Awful management

Educating Experience

Thoroughly enjoyed my work experience here, learnt lots within a week. Staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. Unlike other work experience placements, I was able to get a full hands-on experience with my supervising mechanic thus enjoyed it much more.

if you enjoy having no parts and working with broken tools come to stagecoach

any issues reported to management don't go any further they are all full of broken promises. the depot is dangerous and dark and unlit at times. nearly all of the tools and equipment are broken or bodged together and you find that even the simplest of tasks are made 10 times harder due to the lack of parts or the correct equipment for the job. then when you order parts for a vehicle which should be condemned you get told they can't find them on the system or most likely they just put your parts form straight in the bin

Pay is okay for a MON- FRI

Poor organisation and lack of skill

Very informative workplace.

A few days prior to starting my work experience, i was given some required work clothing, as well as a handbook. I was also told what i would be doing as well as where to go when i started. On the first day I came in and waited for the person i was working with for the week to meet me, once they came, we got started immediately on the job, from the next day onward i came into the workplace and went to meet the person i was working with immediately, I improved my communication skills as I had to provide the mechanic with the requested tools as well as learn about the different components on buses. The staff were very helpful and friendly, although i was much younger than them they treated me like an adult.

Two breaks, Informative staff.

Lunch was fairly expensive

View work made available from previous shift and planned work, to plan your day in carrying out repairs and planned services. Make ready repairs awaiting incoming parts. Be always ready to change your planned operations to vacillate incoming work and breakdowns. Management very cooperative and helpful in organizing the day. Co-workers are very helpful with advice and help when needed and create a great working atmosphere when together. the hardest part of the job is the unsociable hours, the enjoyable times working days shift with co-workers and getting results and reaching targets at the end of shifts.

Facilities are good and improving

unsociable hours

Repairs of buses, services, I learned service of hybrid buses, management very bad, co - workers relative good, hardest part of job is: if to replace is part with difficult access and rotten bolts, no tools or properly tools, I am so glad when the engine is correct working after repairing by me.

Free bus travelling

No paid overtime, bank holidays and weekends
