Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedAll for the gram, not for how practical it is to make even during busy periods such as Christmas or summer. Typically won't be fully staffed or have part timers that won't care enough so anyone working full time carries slack.

Awful place
Barista (Former Employee) - Derry richmound - 20 September 2023
Worst experience I and any of my colleagues have ever had management will leave u struggling and then complain there busy , only thing good about the job was the customers no matter how much u done or how hard u tried something was always wrong do not go for this job it’ll tear u down from the inside out not one person who’s left has a good thing to say. I’ve watched staff bully staff and the manager do nothing even when all efforts were exhausted by everyone else they wouldn’t step in
Pros
1 free drink a day
Cons
Management, no work life balance working 6 days a week

Fun & fast paced
Barista (Former Employee) - County Down - 18 September 2023
I loved the fast paced environment , learning new drinks & staff were mostly friendly. Great friendships made working here. One of the negatives is the ‘tips’ at Christmas are a joke.

Supervisor (Former Employee) - Rugby, Warwickshire - 17 September 2023
Great workforce, its the team that make it fun. Fast paced environment and keeps you busy. If you enjoy a fast paced environment then this is the role for you.

Work part time at the maximum
Barista (Former Employee) - Southport/ chester - 16 September 2023
Typical day is you get 30 minutes to get in and set up. That’s the pastry case, furniture turning bars on etc. the supervisor sets up tills in the office. Most morning there are customers pressing their noses against the glass for the store to open and not much is ready to go at that point. Sometimes a steady morning sometimes busy. Depending on the supervisor sometimes you could be left to run the store alone whilst they sit in the office doing paper work and orders. I’d work part time at a minimum. I’ve never met a colleague who didn’t completely deteriorate working there.
Pros
Free drinks
Cons
Long hours, unsociable hours, minimum staff, minimal amount of machines to serve the demand

Great place to build up customer service skills. A great bridge between College and University with some apprenticeships available to undertake. Great staff.

Can be fun but mostly very stressful depending on where store is located
Trusted Barista/barista trainer (Former Employee) - Liverpool - 11 September 2023
Fast paced with unrealistic expectations if you love coffee and want to learn more the coffee master course is fun but the pressure can be high especially on the managers which can trickle down to the team

Great security, poor for mostly everything else
Shift Supervisor (Current Employee) - Derry - 6 September 2023
Typical day could start at 7am and leave at 3:30pm or start at 2pm and leave at 10:30. Mainly different shifts for baristas. I’ve learned customer service experience, realising who’s entitled and who’s genuine. Management is poor, head office come up with these “great ideas” when in practice can make our lives difficult, expect way too much for such little pay. Workplace can be great but can also be toxic, depending on how you fit in depends on how you get on. Hardest part would be dealing with customers who think the job will be done in 2 seconds. Enjoyable part is the customers who are regulars and you hear about their lives and they remember your details.
Pros
Free drinks, free food for supervisors
Cons
Pay, benefits, poor bonus, no help, no health care help

Best place to work
Barista (Former Employee) - Taplow - 6 September 2023
Learnt about coffee, different beans they sell and use. Got on with everyone we was like a family, went out for meals with bonus money. free drinks and food on shift, free health support. Made friends with regular customers. Loved working there! loved the hours, my manager always supported me, if i was full time and then went part time for university, she always helped me get the best hours.
Pros
great hours, friendly collegues & customers
Cons

Horrible company to work for
Barista (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 4 September 2023
Internal hierarchy and power trips from supervisors and managers is a running issue within most stores. Supervisors won’t even complete the bare minimum of their job whilst continuously pressurising baristas to juggle 4 jobs at once at a fast pace with no support. Working at Starbucks is almost the equivalent to being back at high school, as your co-workers (mainly supervisors) will be grown adults belittling, demanding and bullying individuals much younger and thriving off it. Management does absolutely nothing about your concerns, and couldn’t care less if your overworked and are made to feel like nothing other than a machine. The tasks that you have to complete followed by more unusual tasks that your signed from lazy supervisors and management is NOT worth the pay whatsoever, as there is other places that will pay you more and not have ridiculous expectations on a continuous basis. People thrive hearing the name “Starbucks” but it’s nothing other than unhealthy, sugary, overpriced food and drinks, and a horrible place to work for.
