Working at the HQ does not necessitate being background checked but it is something nice to have if you had to visit one of our nurseries and wanted to visit the children.
We do advanced checks and these can take as little as 2 weeks to come back. Yes, a full DBS check and a minimum of two references. Time taken is dependent on the DBS system and responses from references.

Comprehensive background checks are important as they would be working in childcare and the children's safety is the main priority. A DBS/CRB is also required to make sure they are employing a safe person.
