Your work life balance will not be the same

The nhs is crumbling unfortunately, not just a Swansea health board only problem. Hardly any staff left on wards, health care staff, nurses and doctors are left short with too many people to look after, all with complex variety needs that need to be met. The support in the team of staff working on wards etc are no longer existent, and work life balance will not be the same as most other jobs. Pay has only now gone better by a small margin. Not me disliking the Swansea Bay Health Board, the entire politics behind it, is making all the boards across the NHS crumble.

Pros

Meeting new people, not every day is the same.

Cons

Over worked and burnt out staff.

Great colleagues but can be stressful

I worked in the HB for 10 years, and I genuinely met the most amazing people, worked in amazing teams but unfortunately in the end the amount of stress wasn't worth the wage.

Pros

Career progression

Cons

Low wage

Nice working environment

I worked in A and E and absolutely loved it! The nurses were lovely- but under paid! And it was a great place to work. I would highly recommend working here

Overall a good place to work

A good place to work. People, on the whole, are friendly and supportive. Mostly working with others using Teams but can go into the office everyday if preferred.

Wow! I didn't see that coming.

Beforehand, I thought it would be the public that might cause me problems in my role as a receptionist but it proved to be one nasty colleague. The visiting public were quite simply wonderful in comparison.

Alright if you like getting treated like garbage

Long hours, under paid, under appreciated, under staffed, under cuts left and right, no incentive to boost staff moral, far too many "top people" having absolutely no idea how it is to actually do the job but having far too many options on how you need to do something

Very stressful work environment

To begin and ith the ward I worked in was poorly managed, I felt like I didn't fit in. There was almost no support from my manager the Health care assistants were the biggest bullies and know it all as an overseas nurse you stood no chance of ever fitting in.

Wonderful manager and good team work

Fast paced, can be physically and mentally demanding . Energy and dedication is essential.Team spirit on my ward is excellent encouraged by good ward manager and sisters . Training is mandatory and updated regularly. Pay could be much better for the amount of work and commitment shown by the teams

Pros

Training opportunities. Job security, good overall employment package

Cons

Long hours, pay could be better

Great Team

A really lovely place to work with a kind and caring team who are always there to support you achieve your best. The only thing keeping the final star away is the NHS is slowly dwindling away and the lack of funding has its effects

Not great

No support, management that won’t take responsibility for anything. Patients treat staff like rubbish. Not safe environment for staff or patients. Some staff get away with doing nothing.

Collaborative

I can only review my current post as this is my first employment with this. The Health Board mission statement on face value is adhered to, I would recommend them as an employer.

Pros

Excellent camaraderie

Cons

Only a rolling temporary post

Ggnn

Gghngg Very friendly place to work. Almost everybody is happy in day to day roles. Constant interference from management. We were heavily tracked and monitored, and disciplined for the most minor transgressions (clocking out 1 minute early (not joking)). Bonus targets were constantly being moved further away with new tasks added to workload with no allowance for time to complete these. Non existent COVID 19 policy. Very poor work/life balance. Weekly shame meetings to explain to management and peers all mistakes you have made the previous week.

Not a nice place to work

One of the worse places to work. People are there as nurses and carers but the place is full of bullies and management just try blame it on your mental health instead of sorting the problem. Staff are nasty to patients to and they shouldn’t be doing that sort of job because they don’t care they just there for the money

Pros

Nobe

Cons

Long hours

Hard work but rewarding

Hard work often short staffed but worth it in the end, management are helpful and the supervisors provide excellent support, basically a job for life

Very stressful job

I find being a health care worker your a dogs body and expected to do everything from personal care obs and every bit off paper work feeding and you are the ones that notice if people are sick and changing there ways it’s hard work with very little support

Cons

Long days no time to stop for a drink and when in full ppe it’s a hard day

BANK 0 hours cleaner for NHS Hospital

No job security or guaranteed hours.Management treat you as a resource rather than an individual. Speaking in a disrespectful manner such as: "I need someone to work on...". Can you do it? Which might come across as selfish. Most managers have been in the trust for decades probably because of the job security and salary/pension benefits from being long-term term employees of the board. They have trained 100's of new domestic/cleaners since the pandemic started, yet they are constantly hiring.Job tasks require little skill, so it should be great for people who have limited skills/work experience.Train you, but then make no attempt to proactively offer you any work - even though you have to go through a rigorous vetting process before you are invited for an induction.Overall the contract and the nature of the job and/treatment means that to me this job is a scam. Which is incredible given that it is working for the great NHS.

Pros

Work in relatively safety and not pushy supervisors/managers.

Cons

0 hours contract, selfish and careless management, no chance of progression or gaining of meaningful skills.
