Tiring and uncaring place to work.I hated my time here. Due to the severe and complex needs of residence you were asked to do a lot and put yourself in harms way on a daily basis. It would never end with support and often you would be convinced to take ownership of situations no one could predict or control. Like a resident harming another resident. This was because the home cannot afford to put it anymore statements of harm happening at the home because this would suggest the residents aren’t being catered to properly. Which they weren’t. Management were lazy and uncaring. They have an open door policy yet the door was never open and it had a coded lock which no staff on the floor knew the code to. They would actually avoid some of the residents dependent on their earlier or current harmful behaviours. Such as spitting, hitting, kicking and much more. Some residents were the absolute opposite of harmful and infact I often wished the parents could truly see how poorly cared and protected they were by formalities put in place at the home, such as not being allowed to direct a resident (because this is removing free will) which would so often lead that resident to being harmed by a more physically challenging resident. I respect the choice to free will but it was hard to not be allowed to fully protect the vulnerable from other residents trying to harm them. Be it these other residents could have no understanding of how harmful they could be, it was still hard to be a part of because I felt like some residents would be better off elsewhere. In fact I felt all residents should have been in better places to suit their individual needs. The staff I worked with for the most part were feeling the very same, overwhelmed, unsupported and just generally sick of how management didn’t run the company well. However you could at times find support from eachother which made the job a little easier at times. Most of the staff were also nice and some of the staff were completely unsupported even though they were clearly doing above and beyond. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to work here. I’d be sending them to feeling miserable and to a place that just seems like the same thing different day because management didn’t actually want to improve it. This is a place where you fully understand how actions are louder than words. All the talk is there but none of the conviction. There was clearly cases of residents who would have been so much better off elsewhere but it honestly seemed like the company seen them as financial gain and not as people with big challenges who really could have been having a better life of their environment allowed it. The 1-1 ratio was often just laughable. Often understaffed. There was also multiple cases of bullying between staff and whilst reported nothing would come of it. HR will do anything they can to avoid confronting the issue. There is also a lack of empathy from management. Should you be going through something difficult you would be wasting your time to express it. For more than a week a main entrance door was broken which was a huge risk to residents who liked to try and escape as this would cause one of them to physically harm you if you tried to prevent them from exiting the building without prior planning for safety reasons. Not that you could prevent them from leaving because you support their free will. This results in me being repeatedly attacked because management didn’t respond to radio calls even though the office was 15 or so steps away from the Incident and it was clearly within ears distance. This was also not formally reported because it was the homes fault for not having the correct safety measures in place, ie door locked. How does one go to work and actually believe that home is there to make life better for their residents when things like this were constant and allowed to happen all because management couldn’t run a home safely. Well how could you if you were never on the floor and stayed in the office patting yourself on the back for your choice of job. I couldn’t work there ever again and not only because of how I felt but because I genuinely and deeply didn’t feel like that company cares from their hearts for the people who call this place home.

Not so pleasant.I worked here a few year ago. I enjoy looking after and caring for the clients but the management is not at all good. Very disappointed. Management favours certain staff. Very unprofessional. I would not recommend working here.

Feel good making a differenceSwanton Care is the best care company I have worked for. I feel supported by my managers during good and challenging times. Support through Covid has been excellent, there was enough PPE and I always felt safe.You have to have a flexible approach to work as its a 24hour business but if you plan ahead you can manage commitments around this. Overtime is available but my manager has never put me under pressure to take it.The best part of the job is building a relationship with the people we care for and seeing them smile!

AwfulDefinitely not recommend all saints vicarage manager doesn’t listen, always goes off home and doesn’t respect staff. Deputy manager is the biggest gossip in there but hides it very well residents are not looked after very well. Residents need better care from a different company and more experienced staff
