Support worker full time in Kingston upon Hull

Hard work, but satisfying
I have never worked in care/support work before and this was a huge shock to my system. Shadow shifts are provided to get a taste of the job and these are paid, as is the induction. The only problem with the job is that the hours are long (could be up to 15 hour shifts). But the service users make the job worth waking up for. The job is very rewarding, especially when service users are making progress in their day to day life and activities. Like every job there are good days and bad days. Once you have had experience and the manager's think you are doing well, there are opportunities to become a team leader, which comes with more responsibilities.

Very good place to work
I've been at the company a very long time almost ten years, I've seen staff/managers come and go for varies reasons. Although the company has it's pro's and con's like every other work place the company care for the staff and the staff care for the people we support everybody works above and beyond everyday even when the days are hard, with challenges along the way but the really good days outweigh the hard days. When you have good management and a good staff team behind you and see the people we support thriving, learning and expercing new life skills/personal goals it really does make it all worth it.

Poor company
Worst company in hull, staff are clicky create lies. Had no idea about moving and handling when it was vital for one service user. Staff all sit around in the office talking to eachother. No motivation for service users

Manager is awful
You are only a number when you are working here, the manager doesn't appreciate anything and anything you do is never good enough either, regular supervision is just not a thing as they barely even bother to do the supervisions, you are run into the ground and doesn't matter how you feel you are expected to continue even when being run into the ground, being sick is frowned upon, leaving this company is the best thing for anyone to do, there are many more opportunities with other companies out there and guaranteed to be treat better too, if you like to be at home on a weekend then forget working for Swanton as you don't seem to get weekends, emails get sent at stupid hours, instead of it being left until the morning

Do not work here
Absolute worst company to work for! During the COVID-19 there was no social distancing or cleaning! nobody was wearing any form of PPE! it was like nothing has happened! They are all lazy.. Management haven’t got a clue what there doing, seems like they all just wing it. God knows how the service is still running! Long days, expect you to do 80+ hours a week with no days off in between. Half of the staff and management are inadequate. Not a professional workplace to work for.. The services are disgusting and dirty! wouldn’t recommend. They treat there staff like slaves
