Nice home to work in
I worked for the company for years they say they have the ethos of ‘Potential, Responsibility, Integrity, Diversity, Empathy’ they don’t have empathy at all not for there staff and also say they can give you shifts to fit in with your other commitments that’s not true either . I worked full time asked to change my hours to suit family commitments and was told no and had no choice but to leave after years of being loyal to the company and going above and beyound

A unique and interesting place to work.
Everyday you go to work is different, if you like variety and unpredictability this is the place for you. The people we support are without a doubt the highlight of the job, seeing the service users progress and grow their independence will give you a sense of achievement and pride. There has been issues with staffing levels and workplace culture in the past but this is now being addressed by management and many positive changes are on the horizon. Full-Time and Bank contracts are available which provides flexibility and a positive work/life balance. Although, the role can be challenging and stressful at times the pros far outweigh the cons. If you having a caring nature and want to make a difference in the lives of individuals who have learning difficulties/disabilities, mental health issues, autism or acquired brain injuries give Swanton Care and Community a try.
Registered Manager in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear

A forward thinking company with good ethics and ethos.m
Swanton care Team provided me with all the support a new starter manager requires when adapting to change, without hesitation. I have received a great development training package and all within a few weeks of the onboarding process. The support staff pay rates are exceptional and much higher than other providers in the North East and they pay £400 if you refer a friend. The support worker benefits continue with cycle to work scheme and blue card discounts, they have introduced the early pay scheme which helps when starting a new role. Staff have access to an Employee assist programme for free, that offers various support from financial issues to counselling and well-being support.

Stay away
How this company get away with the way these homes are run is beyond me, I have never seen such incompetent management in my life. The homes are falling to pieces with inadequate heating, residents complaining of being cold in their rooms as their radiators don't work, leaking roofs, mould in bedrooms and bathrooms, the list is endless. Very high turnover of staff which means we are always short staffed which in turn leads to the residents activities being cancelled, so it’s a walk around the block or a drive in the bus, this has been happening not weeks or months but years, this in turn leads to challenging behaviours increasing which in turn staff stress and sickness increasing. Safeguarding means nothing to this home.
