Over worked and under appreciated.
Multi Drop Driver (Former Employee) - Swindon - 12 December 2019
Over worked and under appreciated. If you go above and beyond it is then expected all the time. No work life balance. Regularly expected to go over your hours and is not what is pitched in the interview.

Lacks management
Driver (Former Employee) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire - 24 November 2019
No man management. Bullying and drugs are rife. No safety procedures are followed. No team meetings. All in all it’s not a very nice work environment. I would recommend any applying for a job at swift. DONT

It's a job, but only until something that pays humane wages comes along!
Same Day Courier (Current Employee) - Abingdon - 1 November 2019
On the first day you go to the Newbury Branch for training on the software on the phone that they give you.
This lasts all of a few minutes, once you can show you can accept a job you are off out to collect a van, no training on all the other bits that you would need to know.
The phone has a useful feature of once accepting a job, you can then click one button and it will take you straight on to the maps and take you there.
Problem is the phones are as old as the company, and extremely slow.
Plus they have barely any data allowance on them, so you have to have your own TomTom or phone with a big data allowance.
Once you collect your van you are off and back to Milton Park to sit and wait for your next job.
The problem with this is you can be waiting hours for a job.
And all that time sat doing nothing means they can then tag that onto the end of your day.
So you could be near the end of your 10 hour day, and then get a job which could take you another 4 hours or more to complete.
One thing that struck me while waiting when I started, was how the other drivers spoke about the company.
Nobody has a good word to say about them, but stay as they needed the money.
In my first 6 months alone I must have seen 20 drivers come and go, and it hasn't changed since.
The overtime pay is about 30p more than your normal hourly rate of pay(minimum wage).
You are often asked to start at 5am, 6am, for an extra 30p an hour!
The job itself isn't particularly stressful, but the long hours and poor wage make long days very hard to do with a smile on your face.

Not For Me
not given (Former Employee) - south east - 28 June 2016
I thought that this job would suit me very well. The woman who was supposed to train me seemed to think that verbal instructions would suffice so note book not necessary???
I felt isolated, and my confidence ebbed away too.
As for the co workers they hardly knew I was there, also I wasn't told where the fire exits were or who the First Aider was.
In short this company is not my cup of tea.
Pros
none
Cons
no structured working day, non existent breaks

Multi drop driver (Current Employee) - Berkshire - 13 May 2016
Swift have thousands of drivers all over the country. Its multi drop delivery and our team members change routes every so often. I get to learn new routes and new areas all the time. I enjoy the line of work I am in.

Never worked for Courier Company before
Customer Services Executive (Former Employee) - Newbury - 12 June 2015
Didn't quite expect to have been laid off after just 21/2 months of working. When I started as a Customer Services Executive I didn't expect the person who was my trainer to keep my daily working just doing the same thing day in and day out. I didn't seem to get the chance to show the company what I could do, as I am a confident quick learner. When a new member joined the team my job role went completely pear shaped and this is when I started not enjoying any part of the job at all. The hardest part of the job was trying to show what you could do, this was only allowed for the new starter. If this company hadn't suggested about me going, as I wasn't producing as well as expected I would have just walked out from the job, after all I think the trainer that was training me should be questioned about what she was doing keeping me back from progressing. I definitely will not work for another Courier business again.
Pros
£1.00 weekly allows you to have biscuits with Tea and Coffee
Cons
Very long hours and only allowed a 20min break
