Swinton is not a bad place to work there has been many changes since I started. With new office located right in the center of the city of Manchester
Pros
good location
Cons
none
Substandard managers, colleagues were good, but the overall impression from middle management downwards smacked of the headless chicken school of management. The customers service managers were pretty clueless but at least you had a half decent canteen, and the security staff at the front desk were friendly and professional. Good location though.
Pros
Cheap salad bar in the canteen
Cons
Incredibly poor line management
Swindon was a great place to work at first, then when you realise that they trained you to miss sell products, they get caught, then they take it out on you and your staff. This company rewarded its bosses who destroyed its staffs lives with golden handshakes while the staff where left to rot and stress over there own job security. I can never forgive an employer who made me manage good quality and knowledgeable staff out for refusing to sell products to people who didn’t want them.
Pros
None
Cons
Ripped off hundreds of thousands of people
Dont even go for a job here, really poor management, call after call and 1 mistake all your bonus is gone. Worst place I have ever worked for, if u sit in after call for 5 seconds you get pulled up, very clicky place to work.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything about the company
Awful place to work. Terrible management Focus on quantity over quality. Senior managers were not supportive or helpful and have double standards A clicky atmosphere with little chance of progression
Pros
None
Cons
Everything
It's difficult to be heavily critical of working at Swinton. The job is straightforward and the atmosphere is relaxed. Staff and managers are overall friendly and accommodating where possible. The issues come with the repetitiveness of the role and the lack of personal advancement opportunities.
It seems unless you have been working there for 30+ years you will not get any opportunities come your way. Advancement is heavily dependent on the individuals past mistakes and not on ability and if you aren't completely perfect you will not get a look in. Unfortunately since the opinions and measuring sticks are constantly changing every few weeks it's nearly impossible to keep up with business changes.
Pros
Friendly workforce, relaxed atmosphere
Cons
Constantly shifting work patterns & behaviours, no advancement or creativity
A truly despicable company, I had absolutely no enjoyment at Swinton, even working alongside 2 of my best friends the place destroys your soul. The management was a joke, we had a real issue in branch and no matter how much we pointed it out, nothing was done. Leading to misery for all!
Not enough room for advancement
Pay structure needs work
Not enough work life balance
Targets are set too high.
Turnover of staff reflects environment.
Decided that online loss making sales was the way forward at the detriment of the high street branches. Most of these are closed now - enough said I think
Working in a call centre in Manchester that was not big enough for the company needs. Hot desking situation meant there was often times you would turn up and not have a desk to use.
Job advertised as inbound sales, but was actually cold transfers from another company. This meant the targets were unrealistic and the day was a constant barrage of abusive and customers hanging up.
Soul destroying and very little support from management. Also the shift pattern was hard for anyone commuting and was different to what was advised at interview.
Monthly sales targets meant we had to work hard, smartly and diligently on a daily basis. I learned different sales techniques, people skills and communication skills in general.
Forward focused & now the main contact - service centre in Manchester, opportunities for advancement and career 😃 kept informed of changes and company achievements - forward thinking management senior team -
Pros
Locations, modern fresh offices, career progression
Cons
Need to be able to embrace change as going through growth
They will find any reason they can not to pay you for hours you have worked, you will be threatened by any and every member of rullion staff. Even if you are 5 minutes late because of the train (something entirely out of your control) they will take you into a room and give you the line of potential replacements speech. Frankly i believe they should be investigated, but i never took the threats sitting down.
A distinctive role to transform a business and prime it for sale working with a great team supportive even through the tough times.
Cultural shifts and rebuilding from a very low base could only be achieved with the full support of my peers.
Pros
Flexible working
Cons
Very pressured role - but the way I like it.
Dealing with the Public and telephone based
Dealing with all sorts of customer queries including mid term calculations and processing them.
Money transactions
Cross Selling
Pros
Friendly Environment
Employee hardwork was overshadowed by over-critical one-to-ones with over-ambitious branch manager who was only focused on delivering results without understanding the employee's personal circumstances.
Ever changing systems and processes. No real leadership at top management level.
Staff having to deal with a hotch-potch of multi computer systems..
Insufficient training
Very stressful sales targets applied no break from incoming phone calls.Management at branch levels seemed to understand the difficulty of the job however middle management were clueless
