The place is okay. It pays well and the people there are very nice. For example you'll walk in to smiles every day. But when it comes to poor managment this place gets it spot on. Some managers are cool, know what they're doing and actually care about you but getting passed around From one to another all the time messes it up. I personally had 4 managers while I was there and each one treated you different. Your just another adviser. Favorites get stars and badges and are pushed forward. It's very busy and it's call after call. So repetitive. There are incompetent people in managment and it's not seen by higher management because as soon as they're around the managers straighten up and act differently. I was off sick due to mental health problems and it literally only got looked at in meeting about the sick days (return to works). On one occasion my manager did an informal investigation within a return to work meeting and tried to use the information given For the investigation. It made no sense and I raised it with him and told him I wouldn't sign the paper. The place gave me a lot of problems. It feels like you are a part in a big robot(Swinton) and if you get rusty... Your gone.
Pros
People are nice but wasted here.
Cons
Manegers, higher management.

Overall swinton was a good company up until 4 years ago when new board took over and close a number of branches and reduced staffing measures. Lack of communication from Directors downwards to Branch Manager
Pros
Good salary
Cons
Unstable

Management have no idea of what's going on. They just want to be an online only channel and slowly shutting all the branches. For the branches that are left the management should just put them out of their misery and close them now as it will happen. Also the targets set are unachievable.
Pros
Salary was good
Cons
No job security and no work life balance

Swinton offered a good service and had great relationships with other insurers. The issues they had was the lack of support given to employers in the form of training and management. The were various changes that will ill thought of and made the job more difficult. The salary was below par with many employees depending too much on there bonus.

Awful company to work for, no pay structure. I was there for nearly 8 years and youngster were walking in on a higher salary than me with less experience and less responsibility. Don’t care about their staff. Was a fab place to work when they concentrated on the high street presence & face to face customers but with the branches closing year on year they will soon be like any other insurance brokers ie, a call centre. The management team don’t know what their doing.
Pros
None
Cons
Weekends - Late night

Poor overall management and business model make it difficult to compete with other insurers. Swinton were making huge profits from add on sales and providing unnecessary benefits. This is the reason for numerous fines from the FCA. The FCA have clamped down on how brokers can trade and Swinton seem the last of a dying breed. With less options for income, the reigns are tightened on staff to produce the service they require. Since the huge loss in staff in the last year the work is now generally call centre work. They also sold all the assets and buildings which is a clear sigh of a potential take over.
Pros
Nice office
Cons
Not a trustworthy organisation

The team leaders micro manage and treat employees like children. The management don't value their staff whatsoever. The annual salary was always bad but we used to be able to earn a decent bonus with achievable targets. When I left that wasn't the case anymore. They were obviously trying to save money so devised awful scripts which were embarrassing to read to the customer and no way to achieve target. Dreadful place.
Pros
Water cooler
Cons
Management, pay, lack of bonus, ridiculous scripts, working Saturdays as well as working all week, computer systems.

Contacting customers regarding their policies. I learnt how to process policies, up loading clients records, securing data and keeping diaries for up coming quotes and renewals Management gave regular appraisals and reviews to ensure your could meet targets. Praised and rewarded for retention and customer service Hardest part of the job unable to retain a client due to policy not meeting their needs/ premium. Most enjoyable part of the job helping vulnerable customers and assisting them through processes.
Pros
Team evenings

Long hours

Generally speaking a good place to work with good intent. Issues with senior leaders in the business being disconnected from how people are feeling. This is impacting morale and culture.
Pros
New office in Manchester in central location.
Cons
Limited benefits package.
