After getting the job almost instantly, I was thrust into a special school with children that my experience didn’t align with. I wasn’t warned that this would be a completely new challenge and was led into thinking I’d be doing something more compatible with my experience. Obviously, that school realised I wasn’t what they were looking for and I was placed in a school that required a 1 hour commute, albeit this school was much more suited to me. So I finally got put in a school working with autistic children who displayed challenging behaviours, which is what I was told I’d be doing in the first place. However, after many months working there and the school wanting me to apply for a permanent position, the agency emailed me saying I’d taken too many days off sick and that they would cancel my booking if I continued. No sympathy for the fact that I was supporting very physical children and that I was obviously suffering from wear and tear. This was all despite the fact that the school told me they had absolutely no problem with how often I’d called in sick.I dealt with all this nonsense without complaint. I dealt with being constantly misled and then being threatened with taking shifts away from me. I have no idea how the reviews are generally positive. The only positives I can give is that you can be fairly flexible with what days you work and getting paid weekly is quite helpful (despite the pay itself being poor).

Not a great experience

They pestered me to sign up. I did. They got me virtually no work. One day in primary and this in September 2021 when schools couldn't find supply very easily. Was sent to special schools quite often with extremely troubled children - not my area of expertise. Overall, really quite terrible.

Great place, regular shifts if you have a car and UK qualifications,they care about the well being of staff and help with career progression as well.

Fantastic agency,the consultants take into account what you need.They are also really inclusive and you should apply here as an immigrant.I wouldn’t recommend sticking to them as a major agency though as shifts options appear limited

A good company to work for

Provided me with many supply teaching assignments in Primary Middle and Secondary school an d F.E for many years.Good support from the agency. perhaps the hardest part of the job is getting to an assignment offered at the last minute through heavy traffic.

My experience with teacher active has been an outstanding one. The management's relationship with employees is very commendable. Every new day comes with its own new experience of fun and satisfaction at work. The workplace culture is such that individuals are valued and respected, regardless of their perspectives, experiences, and background. The hardest part is not an issue of major concern, because, in my own experience, it always ends up playing out well. It is when meeting new children for the first time. The most enjoyable part of the job is giving support and making a positive impact on pupils, building relationships with the other teachers and the children, and opportunities for the acquisition of creativity skills due to exposure and engagement in different activities, within the school as well as in the classroom.

A part of a Family and Relaxed environment

Staff understand my requirements. They provide feedback from schools. They usually provide local work for me. Most work is offered in advance. Staff are very professional.

Supportive and informative workplace

I have been registered with Teacher Active for a year and a half. Since registering in January 2022, I have not had a day without work. My Consultant Manager has been very supportive and informative. He has regular phone call check-ins with me, to check on work and to keep me upto date with any other work available. He is actively seeking work for me and always takes into acvount my experience, expertise and specialisms.If i need to make any telephone calls, the agency and My Consultant Manager are professional, helpful and polite.I have recommended Teacher Active to many riends and colleagues.

A very cold environment. Staff were mostly unmotivated due to the higher ups abusing power. Employees had little to no voice against them. Of course there were some wonderful people I met along the way.

Not for the faint hearted

It’s been a few years since I worked with Teacher Active, but I’m still not over it. The training is non existent, yet they throw you into schools that demand a lot of you physically and mentally. My past experience was with SEN so this is where I felt comfortable, however, the schools I were sent to were a completely different scenario and I was not prepared. I understand as agency that this is the norm however, you cannot expect to be ready to be physically assaulted if you have not been properly trained to restrain correctly.

Friendly and supportive
