Who we are

Tesco was built with a simple mission – to be the champion for customers. Our core purpose is to serve Britain’s shoppers a little better every day. With this in mind we keep customers at the heart of everything we do – from colleagues in our stores to those of us in supporting roles.

Over the years we’ve done this through lots of little, helpful differences: new stores and ways of shopping, service which saves time and makes life simpler and helping to make great food available to all.

We operate in 5500 stores with 11 million customers going through our 80,000 checkouts daily. And our colleagues work vigorously to improve the shopping experience of millions of people every week.

Small actions, big difference. Helping to make our customers’ lives easier every day. In other words – Every Little Helps.

Life at Tesco

Our colleagues play a key role in delivering great customer experiences, starting from our champions in stores to our merchandisers in F&F, solution architects in Technology and operation managers at our distribution centers.

We have an inclusive community of 480,000 colleagues based across 11 countries, all with the same passion to deliver a great experience to our customers. We also have a dedicated academy that provides colleagues with the greatest possible support to do their work and develop as individuals.

Our Values, introduced more than a decade ago, have become a vital part of our culture, and an essential underpinning of our growth and success. These three values guide how we make brilliant little differences every day;

• No one tries harder for customers

• We treat people how they want to be treated

• We use our scale for good

With the ability to add value to millions of lives, Tesco is committed to making a positive difference to customers and their communities. We offer a creative working environment, exciting and challenging projects and the opportunity to work with inspirational colleagues.

Managers have no people skills

Good place to work for money wise. But unfortunately management have favourites and if your face don’t fit then you get nowhere. Management don’t care about work and home life balances. Pay deduction if your 1 minute late, but if you stay late you don’t get paid extra, just told if it wasn’t approved You ain’t getting paid. Staff are brilliant and very friendly but senior management have a huge chip on their shoulders and speak to you like a child. Beware

Fun work place

Working with the packing team was brilliant always made it fun in the early hours of the morning. Not many customers around between 4am-6am so you can pick without the risk of being in people's way.

Hard, fun and rewarding

Picking boxes isn't the most thrilling starting out, learning new skills will help break up the job and provide a rewarding experience. The job can be hard, especially during busy periods but it pays well and you'll be working with great people. Subsidised canteen so you can be sure of a well priced hot or cold meal.

Fast paced

I worked at tesco for 3 years total in replenishment mainly ! Very fast paced & have to keep to timings. Fun though & good exercise & 5 hour shifts weren't too long at all.
