Tesco was the most horrible place i have ever worked, the management are a joke and their bullies couldn't wait to leave the business AVOID ! The staff were always short and always under pressure couldn't have a laugh or anything without being watched by a manger when the mangers themselves always stood around doing nothing. Tesco was just a horrible place it was like being in prison most of the time for a shop it was taken so seriously, the mangers were just hypocrites and rude and they needed a good telling themselves! Yes the only thing that made us better was standing up to them and home time thats the only thing with tesco AVOID !

Managers are non approachable expect you to go above and beyond for a less than average wage. 1 rule for the managers and another for collegesToxic inviroment. If your face don't fit you're out. Blatant rasistisum and sexestisum. If you do go to work there just keep your head down keep your self to your self don't report problems as they'll make you into the problem

Free toast

Tesco is what it is - a major supermarket that is focussed on customer service. As a delivery driver you are the front line for many customers and some have special needs and requirements. The role itself is not difficult but does require some training to align yourself with the corporate and customer expectations. The staff and management at Tesco were friendly and easy to get along with.
Pros
Some staff discount on purchases
Cons
Low guaranteed hours with lots of overtime.

Tesco can be a great place to work but it also depends on the staff you work with. The company at the minute are restructuring which is leaving the smaller express shops with no staff and vulnerable.
Cons
Changing of hours and one on one during shifts

Management is very close, colleagues are a team, working at Tesco Metro Chippenham store was like being with a big family. Company values show a wide knowledge of the business and people.
Pros
Everything
Cons
I had to relocate and was unable to find a position.

Totally unorganised, no support what so ever. There rules change by the day!! If your face doesn't fit, you will get nowhere. Managers have there favourites, who get the best shifts and overtime. Most managers are two faced and rude. I worked there for seven years, the first five years where fine. Then it went downhill. If you must work there, take it as a inbetween jobs job. Tesco cut back constantly, never invest in staff. The stores are run on a very tight rope.
Pros
10% Discount.
Cons
Managers and team support

One of the worse companies I've ever had the misfortune to work for. Top dogs only interested in profit. They don't care about staff or customers. No balance between home and work

Management spend there time simply walking around the store , sitting in the canteen and dreaming up ways to make the hard workers jobs harder . 9 out of 10 are hopeless at there job and they are the cause of bad moral because they constantly want to turn on you and hand out punishments for pathetic things to justify there own jobs after doing nothing themselves.A lot less so called managers and a better attitude to staff from the needed managers would really make things better!

Working alone most of day

Have been at this job for nearly 3 years now and the same problems are still there from the first few weeks, staff are treated complety unfairly and are expected to often do more than other individuals doing the same job. This may be down to the store in particular and not wholly the business however due too here being several family members higher up in the management chain and other family working beneath them
Pros
10% discount on shopping
Cons
Late shifts, unsociable hours

In the beggining like any other job is a challenge and you will enjoy but there s a lack of respect, empaty , as many managers will treat you like a child, many when writing , make a lot of mistakes in English. There is a culture of exposing your mistakes in public and praising far from others, inside a room, It s a good job, pay you a reasonable salary, but do not think they make you special. I saw so many staff leaving after years of work, and nobody from management team stating gratitude.what they like is to put in discipline, as an example, if you do not agree with something. Bear in mind, it s a massive company and when you go, they just contract other to replace you very quick so take care of your health.
Pros
10% discount sometimes 20%
Cons
Lack of respect, stress and promote people without skills to the area.

My store is quite a small one with about maybe 300 members and we all work well together. My manager is constantly acknowledging our hard work and sends us cards etc. We also got a 10% bonus for working through the pandemic as a thank you. It’s been stressful the last year but management have been approachable with any worries or concerns. The only thing that is alarming is structure changes as no one really feels secure anymore in their job. Overtime is usually always available on checkouts or other departments so even though I’m on a small contract I often do 40+ hours a week. Regular customers make a note to remember names and check in on us which is always sweet.
Pros
Close team, good communication.
Cons
Structure changes, heat map
