Team spirit, they look after you.

Great atmosphere, positive and upbeat attitude, help is always available. Staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for the customers. A real community hub on the island and does a lot to support the community.

Pros

Flexible working

Cons

Varied shifts but planned 4 weeks ahead so you can plan your life.

Terrible but secure job

Boring dead end job for terrible pay. The only good thing is that it’s a secure job like through the whole pandemic you know you’re safe but that’s really it.

Pros

Flexible hours

Cons

Pay

Mundane and repetitive

I worked in a super Sized store and was given the same mundane task every day. There was no variation. As a newcomer there was very little interaction with other staff, I found it very clicky Ended up doing shifts that no one else wanted

Pros

10% off items after 6 months

Cons

Just repetitive tasks and management hard to locate when you need it

Productive and fun workplace

Fun working with people doing the same job. You bond friendships there. Most staff are friendly but its mainly the management that aren't much helpful when you need it.

Pros

Job is secure

Cons

Long hours, Management

Ok

Was an ok place to work at good for students looking to earn a bit of extra money. Quite a stable job, and pay was always paid on time and was accurate

Pros

Hours

Cons

Retail

Long hours and short staffed

As a duty manager there are too many jobs expected of you. The hours vary from 6am - midnight 7 days a week and we are very short staffed. Jobs include cleaning toilets and shop floor as there are no cleaners, working 50+ cages with limited staff, dealing with contractors and auditors etc

Pros

10% colleague discount

Cons

Working weekends, long hours, too many tasks to complete

Productive and fun

Without doubt tesco was the best company I ever worked for. It grew my talent, encouraged my personal development, and at times pushed to my limit and beyond. I loved the couture and met and worked with some wonderful people. It wasn't always plain sailing, every career has its ups and downs, but the ups were fabulous. I worked there almost 20yrs in various management positions, it was a big part of my life, that I never regretted.

Pros

Breaks

Cons

Unsuitable

Ok

Ok for students or people not wanting too much from a job. Can sometimes be toxic. If you want to get on your face will need to fit. However I did learn quite a bit when I was there.

Not what it used to be

Unfortunately tesco has changed so much on the last few years and not for the better. Job cuts but your work load gets heaver. There's normally a reason that people have been working there years are leaving. Piece of advice. Your not there to make friends go to work earn money and that's it.

Pros

Free colleague shop. 15% every payday

Cons

If your face doesn't fit you know about it. Work load. Job cuts

Cons

Expect you to work all unsociable hours don’t care about your outside life

Okay

Tesco was an okay temp job, not a lot of support and hard work as a personal shopper, the hours were unsociable and there wasn’t any chance for progression but okay as a temporary income

Pretty standard place to work, as you'd expect.

Productive environment, always busy never a dull moment. Some managers better than others, no real pressure, customers are good is you can handle various personalities.

Good place to work

Good job, easy and not to stressful and to start with thourghly enjoyed working there. Unfortunately I got moved to another region, with a different manager, then I just hated every minute. So to sum up good place to work with good benefits, but like any ware it’s only as good as the manager

Pros

Benefits, tools and van

Cons

Early start and weekends

been working for Tesco for 2 years now I find it a fun nice place to work everyone's friendly and caringand very good salary the only downside is not enough hours

Pros

friendly colleagues good pay

Cons

not enough hours

Head office is ruining the company

Big trickle down effect happening with stress. Managers are stressed which leads team members to be stressed. Not a fun role at all. Too many redundancies and not paid enough.

Cons

No canteen Bad managers
