Bit slow paced
Stores Operative (Former Employee) - Walthamstow, Greater London - 26 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedNice enough atmosphere, not much to do after 11am, pay is ok for what you do and training is fairly easy, there is a lot worse out there for a lot less.

Wouldn’t suggest for longevity or advancement.
Call Centre Agent (Former Employee) - Swindon - 24 October 2023
Have to take as many calls as possible in under 10 minutes which is not reasonable. Customers will call you angry to let you know they have called 6 other times and are still to get their issues solved which is correct when you cross reference tickets I’d say a good 5 out of 10 calls had been brushed off until they got to me. I then had to face repercussions over you know - helping our customers. The best part of the job though is the training, You can meet people there that will either make or break your job.
Pros
It’s easy money
Cons
Management get incentive to fire people

Good place to work
Programme Manager (Current Employee) - Reading, Berkshire - 11 October 2023
Good company to work for. Fair pay and great benefits and pension. Currently progression not available so general feeling of frustration with lack of development. Poor communication from exec team to staff on key issues. Very flexible work options. Hybrid. Passionate workforce who always put customers first

Excellent place to work
Senior Health and Safety Advisor (Former Employee) - Newbury, Berkshire - 19 September 2023
I left Thames Water in 2019 after nearly 5 years. When I left it was an excellent place to work, the safety culture was second to none. Would fully recommend

Got what I could out of it.
Customer Service Advisor - Collections (Former Employee) - Remote - 2 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The pay isn't bad, especially if it's a remote role. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Unrealistic targets and deluded senior management. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic. QAs find new ways to penalise you. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Get in, get out, get paid. Not the sort of company you develop any loyalty for.

Mental Toll with Some Positive Outcomes
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Swindon - 28 August 2023
It's great you get to have a Monday to Friday work week and you get your shifts in advance. However, one bad customer and it ruins your day regardless of how many good ones you've had. The schemes available for customers are amazing. Kpi's never disclosed when applying or even in training. Training does not equip you enough for the role. You feel like a deer in headlights most of the time. Only get one week training for your specific role, not enough to grasp the concept. When you get chance to talk on your team that has been great and the line manager seems to want to help. Progression across the board is obvious which is wonderful to see.
Pros
Team, Manager and Working Week
Cons
Stressful, Not Equipped, Failure of General Training

Terrible
Delivery Manager (Former Employee) - Reading, Berkshire - 16 July 2023
If there is a word or worse words I can use to describe Thames Water then I won't hold to use it. I had my worst ghosting, disrespectful and nonchalant attitude of dealing with interviewees with this company. No wonder they are getting looked into by the government. Horrible company with terrible management. All the noise about them caring about equality is a ruse.
Pros
Can't think of one
Cons
100s. Terrible work environment with ignorant set of managers. Prouder than peacocks

Very busy, not enough management/trainers
Collections Agent (Current Employee) - Swindon - 10 July 2023
Mostly people are good, I understand my role well however the system is quite complex and over complicated. The training does not give agents enough call listening, no buddying up to be able to learn through others, training is done mostly in the classroom and then left to own devices to learn the system when your on the phones. This increases call time hugely. We have 1 sometimes 2 floor walkers supporting 12 new agents, there should be a lot more support as causes unnecessary stress for customers on hold, new agents waiting for support and floor walkers who are trying to help many people at one time. Management should be overseeing this situation

Fast paced
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 4 July 2023
A good place to work. Fast paced. Can be long days working up until 8pm. However, if you get a bad call you can still be on the line long after your shifts ended

Poor management
Waste Water Technician (Current Employee) - Oxfordshire - 4 July 2023
Poor management none of the manager’s have a clue, treated like a dogs body and they care more about ticking boxes than getting the job done. Salary is shocking for the amount of work and responsibilities on your head but standby does too the money up nicely but you have to work long hours to get the money and then moaned at for not doing the hours and moaned at for doing to many hours there’s no winning with the management
Pros
It’s pretty much impossible to get sacked
Cons
Management and being monitored all the time

Ruins your mental health!
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 10 April 2023
Where do I start ! The training was awful spent 4 weeks sat in a class room doing e-learning back to back that either made no sense to someone just starting there or had no relation to the job whatsoever then went up to take supported calls for 2 weeks after - this in itself made no sense as this is where you actually got to use the system so logically would be more beneficial to do 4 weeks of that and 2 weeks of e learning ! As soon as you get through training you get put on the floor and are expected to know and be able to handle calls and wrap up straight away they give no empathy towards the fact you have just came out of training and are still learning - the help varies sometimes your get help straight away sometimes your be sat for ages waiting for help while you have a customer on the phone- your expected to hit targets as soon as you get onto the floor they expect you to be able to handle calls hit multiple targets of asking a long list of questions and offering things if you fail to do this on calls you get marked down - if you get marked down multiple times you get moaned at - everything is timed you have to be there 15mins before your shift as you have to be sat waiting to log straight into available if your a few seconds late into available you get moaned at same for after your lunch and breaks . if you need a toilet during your shift your made to go into “ personal “ that’s if you can find a toilet working in the building your told you only have 10mins per shift ( for the whole department may I add )of personal so if your closest toilet isn’t working you might as -
Pros
Free coffee
Cons
Ruins your mental health
