Jobs are really demanding and have potential of putting customers into distress and risk, but the proper mechanism to handle the situation is missing.As a project manager, you will miss the power to actually handle the situation with conviction, which is very frustrating.

Good salary, but cliquey and slow

Not a great place to work if I'm honest.Things that are wrong:1. There's a culture of having as many meetings as possible (and some managers base performance on how busy your calendar is).2. Progression is slow unless you happened to be on the graduate scheme.3. If you weren't on the graduate scheme, you need to rely on being in the right clique for career progression.4. For the size of business, it has very poor capability when it comes to strategy - often relying on over-promoted graduates who have spent 6-12 months in ops to make strategic decisions about Digital or Customer Service. However, it does pay well, and the holidays are generous. Golden Handcuffs.

Poor leadership

The executive team are weak. The turnaround plan starts with fixing the basics, but that's not what is happening. As a result sewage outflows to rivers, service disruptions escalate, and customer satisfaction continues to languish as 17th out of the 17 UK water companies.There are great people, including great managers at Thames, but they are not empowered to do their jobs. Instead weak-minded executives micromanage decisions about topics they do not understand.Execs that read a management self help guide one night and try implementing Amazon ways of working the next morning. Execs that cake and enforced 'fun' builds teams, but rely on their spouse for advice on how to do their job.The work culture and the improved work-life balance that resulted from the pandemic is under threat by a back to the office (I only trust you if I can see you) mentality, despite imposing a change of contract on staff that leaves many out of pocket.Staff are voting with their feet and leaving in their droves. Make sure you go in with your eyes open if you join.

Thames water is an alright place to work if you know the right people. It is very hard to progress and the pay is significantly low compared to similar roles you can find elsewhere.

A company that truly cares about its employees rather than treating you like just a number. The management are down to earth and treat you like a normal person rather than as though they are above you.

Management is demanding but poor and discontinous training. Current manager too blunt, almost unpolite; office attendance rules are not same for everyone.

Clear direction and training provided by the company, never felt unclear of what was expected. Management was approachable about any issues and actually listened.

Great Place to work

Great Company to work for. They are ambassadors for Mental Health, H&S and take it very seriously. Lots of options for employees to get help where needed. Good salary for my job. Great culture. LGBTQ supportive and do not tolerate Bullying, harassment or discrimination. Mandatory online training regularly takes place to educate all employees in various areas. Highly recommended to work here. There are graduate schemes also so career opportunities are there.

Very nice company

Enjoyed working there. Staffs and management helpful. Good work environment. Maintaining safety precautions. Good food in canteen Enjoyed every bit of my life there. No drastic pressure. Finish your work on time and you can enjoy your day. Good view while working. Environment friendly. Toilets are Clean.

6 years and still here!

Friendly atmosphere, good mix of people to work with. Handled the Pandemic really well and switched to hybrid working for most roles since.Easy to progress your career with Thames if you have the right attitude. Communication throughout the business can be a problem due to how spread over the company is but it's improving each year.


Good Annual Leave policy, Remote working for most office based jobs, Friendly people, Nice office atmosphere, Fair pay (not the best but fair), Good stance towards Mental Health.


Parking isn't great (however not as much of an issue now), Fairly brutal sickness policy (4 occasions before trigger), Benefits package not always clear, Slow/unresponsive HR team.

Toxic culture. Management hasn't got a clue what they're doing,

It seemed like a good place to work at first until you realise how bad the Management is. The environment is toxic, everybody talks behind eachothers backs, the pay is not in line with other departments who do less work. Complaints and bullying get covered up, you also get treated to and spoken to ltke a child by some managers.q

They look after you

Very well organised. Communications are regular. Collaborative meetings work and pleasure. Great culture to work in. Absolutely 5 star during Covid lockdown. Looked after everyone. Very caring and flexible. Lots of opportunities to grow within the company

Working on Client

Working on a client side as always integrated me as i can see the project from start to finish. Its an great experience it has given me an opportunity to work in all sorts of projects from low key to national disaster projects where you making the difference.

A company where I worked.

Thames Water is a company. Not interested in reviewing any company. What can I write to make you go away. I worked at TW. I had colleagues. There were stairs and chairs, lifts and desks. The coffee machine worked well.

Falling apart

Restructured every 6-9 months for the last 5 years...Quote from HR 'we cant get the changes done in the system before we are planning the next one' Lack of consistent direction. Multiple senior changes over the last 3 years, at least 3 of current exec are working out their notice.

Average , I have learnt things but not been offered any formal qualifications or training to better myself professionally. The pay in my department isn't great for the work and responsibility day to day but the people there (mostly) are lovely.

Great worklife balance. No job security

constant re-structures result in redundancies and lack of job security. Every role will be controlled by useless higher management that block you from doing your job. Little support from managers and a terrible culture of backstabbing to get ahead. They do however have a great work life balance policy and team dependant you can work from home and from different locations. Flexi hours are also an option
