Abbeyfield resident, Ann has decided to knit a scarf out of this massive ball of yarn to see how long she can make it 😍🧶 We and her fellow residents can't wait to see the final result! Ann lives with us at Park House sheltered housing, part of Abbeyfield Scotland. Our sheltered houses offer you your own space to enjoy later life combined with the peace of mind there’s someone on hand to support you with daily activities, and the companionship of your fellow residents. If you would like to find out more about #shelteredhousing with Abbeyfield, or search for your local #Abbeyfield house, go to abbeyfield.com/supported-housing.
Check out these residents getting stuck in to their fitness class 😍 At Abbeyfield, we encourage residents, and older people in the community, to stay active for many reasons. Regular #exercise helps to keep you mobile for longer, makes you stronger and more flexible, lowers your risk of illnesses and boosts confidence. It can sometimes be hard to know where to start, so we’ve compiled some tips and guidelines at abbeyfield.com/exercise-advice-for-older-people on good exercises for you to try.
We’d like to wish Tamar House a huge congratulations after being recognised as a ‘leader by example’ by Plymouth City Council 🌟 Tamar House Residential Home, managed by the Abbeyfield Tamar Society, has been identified by Plymouth City Council for promoting good practice across the home. Over the past year, Tamar House have held regular meetings, provisions for counselling and meals laid on for staff, in addition to fundraising initiatives to keep them occupied outside of work. This has helped to maintain high levels of performance, with each member of staff meeting consistently high standards. Watch Registered Manager, Francesca Fletcher speak about the recognition at abbeyfield.com/tamar-house-recognised.

“It was really heartening to hear the many ways in which staff have supported residents across the organisation and each other, during such a difficult time.” Abbeyfield Winnersh recently had a virtual visit from Professor Deborah Sturdy OBE, the first Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care 🧡 Professor Sturdy received a 20-minute virtual tour of the home over Zoom, led by Registered Manager Sue Smart, during which she was able to experience the exceptional facilities and level of care that the residents experience every day. Professor Sturdy said, “I was delighted to meet the staff and hear about the incredible work everyone has done during the past 11 months. My virtual visit to Abbeyfield Winnersh and a walk around the home was really appreciated. There were so many activities taking place and it was fantastic to see both residents and staff having fun.” Read more at abbeyfield.com/winnersh-chief-nurse-visit.
