Low stress, fair pay and good discount

Pay was good for the role, it was the easiest and most low stress sales role I've ever had. Targets are achievable and the products mainly sell themselves due to good offers. Minimal contact from head office so you and your team are left to it rather than hassled all the time! 50% discount and the occasionally freebee!

Low hour contract

Unfortunatly alot of retail are now hiring staff on low hourly contracts yet expect you to work overtime, on a standard rate. Your overtime hours will have no effect on holiday entitlement ect. I would not encourage this by accepting these contracts.

The body shop is a great first job! Everyone is super lovely, the company care a lot about the staff and have so many great benefits. However, top management do put a lot of pressure on managers to reach/exceed targets which can make some days (especially around the holidays) super stressful.

Good company to work for! Good values! Treat their employees with respect and lots of incentives. Helped out when my employees needed time off for mental health issues. Very good support from my line manager and HR when that occurred. Not too much paperwork! Quite easy as a debit management position! They are activities, you even get a paid day off to go volunteer for the charity of your choice! Very inclusive and open to new ideas!

Poor management

Unachievable targets set individually and then managed through performance reviews, demotion and lowering contracted hours until you decide to leave. I felt during my time as assistant manager in Thanet that I was treated unfairly and spoken to like a child. In my two years there I witnessed 3 of my team get managed out of the business unfairly. I was asked to do a 6 month secondment to a store over an hour away from my home and then when I returned to the Thanet branch I was made redundant.

Not what I thought it would be

I was excited to start here, but the manager has completely ruined the job for me. All of the CC's and other members of staff are lovely, but the manager creates such a hostile work environment I dread going to work. When the manager isn't there, it's an okay place to work, it's quite average, not what I would expect from a company like TBS where they promote how much good they do.

A draining and lonely place to work

During my time at the body shop i felt nothing but empty inside , my mental health deteriorated as a result of other members of staff talking about me behind my back , cliquey behaviour and feeling left out on purpose constantly , being made to feel like an outcast constantly - being used to run other employees errands whilst they sat on their phones using tik tok and making phone calls behind the counter and in the staff room/store room- extremely unprofessional place to be a team member of , you get near to no staff benefits and they don't like to give you your perks until they've made it near impossible to pass your probation as a way of casting you out before you have even had a chance to warm to the place.I really don't recommend working here , do yourself a favour and pursue a career that makes you feel happy rather than jumping to a £ sign - a total illusion.

30 min break, 50% staff discount, can use/try any tester product in store, start with 5 free items to take home.

Cons

cliquey staff, not inclusive, toxic/bully culture by higher up members of staff

Decent but fundamental issues

Overall it was an absolutely fine place to work but there were some issues surrounding the environment that made employment there more uncomfortable. Attitudes and actions towards environmental issues were definitely not aligned with the company. There were also a few times when it was uncomfortable surrounding racial and cultural awareness, as a POC when I tried to speak up about this I was met with disciplinary action, leading to resignation.
