Great Place To Work
Technical support specialist (TSS REME) (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 13 May 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPay is good, loads of extra perks like extra time off, adventurous training, travel, high street discounts and tickets for troops plus subserdised housing if you're married. Make friends for life and loads of opportunity to develope professionally. Has good core values and ethos. Promotion is quick in certain trades and most courses completed for promotion are civillian recognised. Overall a great place to work and a great career can be achieved.

70% chance you will regret it
Infantry Soldier (Former Employee) - Cyprus - 5 May 2022
lied to all the time, double standards, treated like a child, just a number, zero respect, cult in disguise, pay is well below average, they brainwash you, heavily under manned so they let anyone join

Fun place to work
Infantry Soldier (Former Employee) - Blackpool, Lancashire - 4 May 2022
Good place to work but hard work. Meet great people and good for travelling around the world. Can be hard work at time and your bosses can be hard to work for

It’s the army
British Army (Former Employee) - Pirbright - 28 April 2022
You know when you start the process what to expect and as long as you meet those expectations you’ll fit in great best job I’ve ever had and would love the opportunity to return when I’m able

Good place to work at if u really want it
Junior soldier (Former Employee) - Harrogate, North Yorkshire - 27 April 2022
You need to be a motivated, driven individual with a passion for the job role your going into, and if you lack in any of these quality’s in the slightest, they will notice and call you out. You need to be strong minded and learn to take things on the chin. The army is very restricting on your home life as it is a 24/7 job. The friends and experiences you will come across will stick with you for life. You need to weigh out the pros and cons for yourself.

Fantastic career opportunities.
Officer (Current Employee) - Bicester - 25 April 2022
The Army is a lifestyle change, not just a job. The benefits of a long career with the Army are many and offers different job choices where you gain vast experience along the way. Learning opportunities and continuous improvement of skills develop you into the best version of yourself and prepare you for career progression. Train Hard, Fight Easy!

Jobs at The British Army
Good & bad
Lance Corporal & Trooper (Former Employee) - South West - 19 April 2022
See the world, make friends for life, but don’t see family enough and pay isn’t great. Lots of fun activities and memories for life, but not for a family man unless you move your family there.

Loved my time in
Infantry Soldier (Former Employee) - Weeton, Lancashire - 18 April 2022
The pay is just not enough to carry a family around every 2 years where your wife can’t find a stable job for a second income but for single people jobs amazing

12 years
Paratrooper (Former Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 14 April 2022
12 years of fond memories but reached the point of not wanting to serve anymore, due to impact on family life, lack of pay opportunity and lack of variety of exercises.

Decent
Corporal (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 13 April 2022
Spent over 12 years in the army. Upon leaving was not paid the money I was owed from the mess; around £200. Once I was out they had no care and never attempted to make payment

Face paced
Sgt (Former Employee) - Larkhill, Wiltshire - 12 April 2022
Fast paced kinetic environment. Great opportunities for self improvement and education. All medical and dental covered, free gym facilities. You'll meet friends for life.

Great place to be
Staff Sergeant (Former Employee) - VARIOUS - 11 April 2022
Had a great time, I would recommend it to anyone. Even if it's just for a few years it will make you a more confident and resilient person. You will gain loads of skills that other employers look for.

Don’t do it
Infantry Soldier (Former Employee) - Chepstow, Monmouthshire - 7 April 2022
Join the Navy or the RAF, the work culture is appalling and you get treated just like a number on a spread sheet. You give so much of yourself to a job that is ultimately thankless.

Not for everyone
Corporal (Former Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 7 April 2022
I've had a great time. Although i admit its not for everyone. Lots of time away, you will visit alot of different countries and see and be apart of things 99% only experience watching YouTube videos, playing computer games, or reading about in books! Opportunities to live in different areas of the UK/World. Cheap housing, help to buy your own house. Chance to see what your really made of. Become a true leader, learn from the best.
Pros
Career progression, qualifications, experiences.
Cons
Can take its toll on your body.

Miserable
You get treated like rubish if they don’t like you you have no chance of career progression if you want to get anywhere you have to be a pepper grinder your leave is give to you at last minute it’s extremely hard to plan your life around it you don’t get paid anywhere near enough and half the time the Clark’s mess up your pay anyway

Every day is different
Soldier. Regular (Current Employee) - Edinburgh - 30 March 2022
You will be placed out your comfort zone alot. Depending on your job role. You will be working hard or hardly working. Not for the faint hearted. Minimal of 4 year service. Did bring out my confidence alot. Not family friendly.

What you make it
Infantry Soldier (Former Employee) - Inverness, Highland - 29 March 2022
Infantry soldier in the British army is a hard job. If you are single and have no responsibilities this is the job for you secure. Sometimes it’s easy and you do minimum work and sometimes your away for months on end grafting.
