Clubhouse Bar Manager in Various

Busy, hard work. Target driven but still offering the personal touch
A great place to work and learn. Recommended both for someone seeking to advance a blooming career and also for those dedicated to a long service. There are negatives like in all jobs, but the job will reward you if you seek out the extras it can give you. The jobs there are geared towards ambition and advancement but if you sit on the side lines you will be overlooked and will become resentful, seeking to blame the company for your own timidity.

Terribly stressful, SMT don't care
Very busy environment, customers are super self-entitled and staff have to bend over backwards to please them or face retribution. Shifts are long and there is rarely thanks for doing extra (watch you get paid correctly for your hours too!). The management are clique-y and definitely have favourites, life is tough if you aren't one of them. Bullying isn't dealt with appropriately and often leads to the trodden-down demeanour of long-serving members of staff you may have seen commented about here. Mental health isn't taken seriously and heaven forbid you take sick leave for this reason. Increasing approach of hiring externals for promoted posts instead of developing their current workforce, seen across many departments. It's clear there's a disconnect between upper management attitude and the glowing company ambition you get told about on induction. Overall training isn't great, the HR department seems a bit disorganised and chaotic. Thankfully there are a few friendly souls who work there to make life a bit more bearable. Grounds are pretty, the building is nice in guest areas.

Gleneagles is an excellent employer and it's a great privilege to work for them.
I greatly enjoy my job and look forward to coming to work. I have always been treated very well. I feel I'm part of a large team where everyone in Gleneagles is approachable and willing to help, if needed.

Iconic resort, world class people
Pros;
Working with great people, in a truly iconic hotel. Investment in the resort has really pushed Gleneagles to the forefront of the industry, Ennismore and the on-site leadership team are building something very special. The improved focus on our people is welcome, but still has further to go.
Cons;
Hospitality is a demanding industry, the hours are long and the effort needed is immense. The industry is changing and becoming more accessible and Gleneagles is leading on this, however there is more work to do.
