Stressful bit rewarding

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Can be challenging but colleagues and some managers supportive. Spinning many plates at once and work load can be unmanageable. Pros, excellent pay and work life balance

Hopeless

Staffing levels are hopeless, management are inefficient, uncaring, and inexperienced. Another care company that doesn't care. The staff are uneducated, the management couldn't organise anything. Another disgraceful care company.

None

Heavy workloads stressful and low pay

Some managers unsupportive and inexperienced so adds more pressure and work related stress. Enjoyed helping the customers but role constantly changing and management expecting more and more despite low pay

Professional and strong purpose

Well managed and run with a clear strategy and business plan. Given the freedom to make decisions within a clear framework and always someone on hand to give support and advice. Great team who all help and support each other and very respectful and inclusive environment

Pros

Good pay, supportive team and managers

Cons

Can be slow to make decisions

Lovely customers

Such lovely customers to look after but omg the staff!!!! Got to watch your back and they would stick the knife in to save their own backsides. Everyone turns on everyone and reports for stupid things Avoid, I’m trying to get a new job

I had to leave for my own mental health due to being bullied by my unqualified aggressive manager.

Very stressful place to work, always watching your back, you learn to do as you’re told and keep your head down. Always criticised and never praised no matter how good or hard you work.

Pros

I cannot think of one

Cons

Sole destroying

It used to be a brilliant place to wort but has gone down hill massively in the last 10 years

What is the best part of working at the company? The front line staff as they all work as a team and try to help each otherWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company? The management as they don’t have a clue what they are doing and don’t give any support to the front line staffWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Poor as there is no management support when things go wrong . The front line staff are left to deal with it themselves What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful and constantly worrying what a customer will say as you are the first person they see

Poor

A company and office environment bereft of any atmosphere, where corporate lifers go to evaporate. Two weeks awful training, including no systems training.Zero team spirit, zero job satisfaction, zero job security.A personality is a trait almost none there seem to possess. One of,if not THE worst job I’ve ever had, with some of the saddest individuals I have ever drawn breathe with. The only time I have ever felt true pity for the people that still have to work there.

Cons

No breaks, micro-managed timed everything.

If you want to work for free then come to Guinness, if you want to earn money then work somewhere else!

Guinness is a large national company. This is reflected in it's total disregard for its staff, you are disposable. They NEVER pay you correctly. It's absolutely ridiculous how they can get EVERYONES pay SO WRONG every single month !!!! If you want to WORK FOR FREE then it is a nice place to work, if you need money then work somewhere else! When you are paid incorrectly there is no one who will sort it out. You can only raise an online ticket, this is never answered, and while there is a phone number for payroll, there is no one in payroll who EVER answers, it's honestly a joke!

Pros

Great place to work. Lovely staff and great customers

Cons

Never paid

An amazing company

Couldn't have wished for a better company to work for. I felt privileged to be part of the team for 15 years. For me, all the staff and the Management were amazing. I was made redundant and they really looked out for me and my welfare.

Pros

Good pay, great working conditions, lots of opportunities to progress and only a 35hr working week.

Cons

none

Nice Atmosphere

Generally supportive atmosphere. Let down by poor techknowlegy. Like everywhere managers are not to be fully trusted but few of them seem to be out to trip people up.

Lovely staff to manage and I had a supportive manager

Really enjoyed the 3 years I worked for Guinness Care. I had a great staff team and a supportive manager. The reason I left was due to no pay or career progression/development prospects.

Pros

Great colleagues and lovely team of staff

Cons

No career or pay progression prospects (only reason why I left)

Extremely stressful job

Began the role with poor line management and no training. For too much responsibility in terms of compliance with little support. Can be quote a hostile environment depending on the department you work in

Some fantastic people but micromanagement and passive aggression spoils any best efforts for change

Joined with high hopes to contribute to a company with real social purpose but unfortunately this was a learning experience of how not to manage staff.Positives- some really good, professional people working exceptionally hard to deliver great services. Lots of change and new staff bringing new perspectives. Teams on the ground generally knowledgeable and supportive.Cons- depending on the area you are in however the level of micro management and lack of autonomy and trust means teams are left demoralised and lacking confidence. Undercurrent of lack of respect for anything but the guinness way and constant feeling that you will never 'win' driven in the main by long serving staff with little wider experience. Teams often overworked and high turn over means loss of knowledge and gaps in roles impacting delivery. Passive aggressive behaviours went largely unchallenged.

Shocking job

If I could rate it 0 I would. Absolutely terrible place with a terrible management and head of dept. Allocates blame onto others such as the cost of living crisis and debt increasing. I felt threatened by the management. Even the pay is shocking compared to other housing associations. I’d rather be jobless than ever step foot in that job ever again. Stay clear because this job will be enough to bring your mental health worse. Because of this company I got into an eating disorder

Horrendous

Toxic culture maintained and role modelled by senior management, b1tchy (including the men) clicky groups. Everything is drama and a hassle, armed with an excuse for everything that didn’t get done which is usually someone else’s fault and nobody sees the good in anybody and can’t wait to moan about it to anyone who will listen. Was warned about taking a role here due to the above. Should have listened!

Pros

Benefits are good

Cons

Management. People in iobs they shouldn’t be in and all covering for each orher
