The customers are absolutely lovely which make it worth it, I worked here for just under 2 years and enjoyed it very much, it's definitely more fun during the summer as its more busy and the weather just makes it nicer experience but even when not summer when I worked there I tended to get along with supervisors/management, I do not suggest you work here during the winter if you have a genuine problem with the cold though as it gets EXTREMELY cold

Overworked, under staffed, under appreciated and under payed.

I went into this job full of enthusiasm and hope. Thinking, it’s a garden centre, it will be a nice and pleasant environment. Within the first 3 month I was pretty shocked and very disappointed. The environment itself and the variety of work is the positives. Customers are testing at times but the majority are fine. Here’s the bad bits. Organisation of the place is poor. Never thanked for hard work or your good efforts. Your opinions does not count, so it’s a case of put up and shut up. When staff leave, they’re never replaced, so your work load has doubled but your pay stays the same. You go home at night feeling drained and worthless. With the right ideas and people, this place has the potential to be a great place to work. Unfortunately, its the opposite.

It was ok at times

I worked for the company a while I really enjoyed my time here The only problem was the people they employed some of them were bullies and also the mangers in the garden centre and coffee shop very two faced and always lied to you they would tell you how good you were at your job but then tell someone else something else if you weren't in the click you had no chance I can't fault the managers at the top of the company they were very friendly and helpful The place would be good if they employed the right staff not bullies

Great work life balance

To work in the hospitality role here has an excellent work life balance compared to many other jobs I’ve had over the years in hospitality. You are recognised as an individual and training is ongoing to bring out the very best in you. For the amount of employees they have it’s nice that the catering director & HR director know you by name and always welcome feedback whether it’s positive or not and they are always trying to improve the business with investment and suitable training. I love working here.

Shocking place to work awful bully tactics from unprofessionally management

There are no pros to working for this company, if the head office focussed more on the stores and actually saw what happened when they weren't around they'd be very surprised. Maybe undercover boss style visits need to happen.

Fun Workplace

I felt very relaxed at the garden centre and enjoyed my job. The people were very welcoming and made me feel relaxed. I also met a lot of new people that were amazing.

Awful company

Awful company to work for totally incompetent management harassment from chefs inappropriate language slapped on the bum by chefs and bullying the worst time of my life

Poor pay

Strikes is an easy company to work for but it’s pay is very low for the jobs that are included, a lot of jobs are tedious and take a lot of time and working for minimum pay just isn’t right

It's retail - what do you expect?

Management are asked to work silly hours, sometimes 12 out of 14 days. Summer feels very under staffed and can stretch a person physically to the point I think they only reason they put up with it is because of the job security and lack of ambition.

Just awful.

Had me doing so much work for nothing, I was given almost no training, Other employees were bad and I would be run ragged doing so much work around everywhere. For full days I would be a kitchen porter (even though my job description is front of house). Management was a shambles and head manager was short of harassing me.

fun and productive

I only worked a Saturday 9-6, the work load was varied and there was always something to do. Breaks were generous and the staff were friendly, polite and understanding.

Klondye garden centre is a great and welcoming environment to work in and has lovely and friends staff. you feel part of a family working here and they are great to be around

Can be a fun place at times

No room for moving forward and unhappy with the way managers treat the staff. Typical day at work starts with dealing with all types off customers making sure delivering quality customer service. Also cleaning, cash handling,restocking and making of foods on occasion. It can be very physical especially when its busy. On quieter days things run smother. I need a more challenging job within a different environment in order to reach my potential.
