Strong academic vs support staff divide
Disconnected, rambling and uncoordinated organisation with radically different work environments depending where/what division you work in. Cliquey and difficult to feel secure.
Research Assistant in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Productive and youthful working environment
Very welcoming from the start, my three month internship as a research assistant at The Open University was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience for me. I was made to feel very welcome from the start and the work carried out was challenging yet rewarding, which is a good balance. I would recommend anyone in science to take up an intern position there as you will not be disappointed.

Best place for work/life balance
Best place for work/life balance. Great location of Milton Keynes close to London. Some renowned research groups and labs. Great opportunity to reach out to a large student body.

Typical higher education
To work in a university you have to understand the academic viewpoint and be prepared to work within it. This means full analysis before taking action is key.
