any job (Former Employee) - any - 23 April 2023
You have to work christmas / new year if your shifts fall on your days in. This can mean working 5 years of christmases or more in a row. When you give a years notice to request next christmas off. It gets denied as staff shortages. Where is the employers understanding and compassion? Its not there. Though at same time others are granted last minute time off at christmas. Theres no fairness/compasion, consistency or logical behavior from senior management. For a care home this is just unreasonable.
Pros
none
Cons
treated badly

Bad company doesn't care for staff or residents. Management are awful and never consistent.
Carer (Former Employee) - Wiltshire - 13 April 2023
This company are ment to be non profit but care only about filling beds always understaffed, expected to run floor on own and medicate residents safely. Don't understand disibilities. Very clicky. Some of the carers i worked with was genuine and really cared for the people we looked after but some i wouldn't leave my goldfish with. Pay not fair doing a senior role fpr just one pound extra.

No two days are the same
CARE ASSISTANT AND ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR, ORDER (Current Employee) - Wiltshire - 24 March 2023
As an Activities co-ordinator I get the best of both worlds but my job is varied and no two days are the same from cows in the dining room and Penguins in the bedroom! The support if you have mental health issues and need time Is good and an employee assistance line. Some homes are older and have worked in both new and older homes in the Trust
Pros
Varied
Cons
Cocid

Residents and staff
Carer (Former Employee) - Marlborough - 14 March 2023
Beautiful home, beautiful residents and on the floor staff were lovely, higher management especially head office were shocking and lacked any hint of compassion

Toxic work environment
Care Worker (Current Employee) - Gloucestershire - 28 January 2023
Think more about money and “targets” than the quality of life they are providing for the residents. They give amazing, inspirational training. That’s soon stamped out. If you speak up, unless you’re in the in crowd, you’re made to feel like a problem. Staff complain all day about the residents. It’s absolutely toxic. two faced, manipulative. Need a skin thinker than a rhino or a heart of stone to survive.

Honest Review
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Gloucester, Gloucestershire - 12 January 2023
Absolutely avoid! I had worked in all departments of the company over a 10 year span. The trust advertises as a not for profit organisation - absolute rubbish! Yes most care homes have a low staff rate however the staffing levels provided with the trust are shocking! The job is totally task orientated, residents very depressed and wanting a person to talk to! Instead the job is very paperwork based and everything revolves around a very limited budget! Food is set and no added extras for residents. 2 carers for 20 residents and not allowed to book agency to keep area operations managers happy! Management and directors however organise meetings at hotels etc including a catered lunch, hotel stay etc. stupid amounts of money spent on leaflets and professionally printed paper work. Too many departments and managers! After 10 years not even a thank you, I used to sing the trusts praises to the highest however now treated as a number and only wanted when shifts need covering, no person centred treatment for staff nor residents! NO CHOICE OF SHIFTS! You are expected to work the shifts given to you, no negation unless you apply for flexible working policy which is impossible to have approved!
Cons
No shift negotiations, Skeleton levels of staff, emotionally draining

Average work place
Staff Nurse (Current Employee) - Cirencester - 4 January 2023
While I am happy working at St John’s the organisation is behind the eight ball in terms of modern conventions. Poor computer systems and very poor clinical environment.

Soul destroying bullies
Care Leader (Former Employee) - Wiltshire - 3 January 2023
Management bullies, liars and a disgrace to the profession. Carers work tirelessly with no recognition, leaders expected to do run, work and manage home let alone their shifts. Residents given minimal ‘care’ due to lack of staff, time and consideration by the ‘charity’ OSJCT. Would never recommend for work or residents. Avoid at all costs to protect your well being on any level!!
Pros
A select few staff
Cons
Toxic environment!!

Cons

I wouldn't send a farm animal there.
Staff are not the best trained, corners are cut whenever they can. Residents don't get the care they're paying for. Some members of staff are amazing at what they do (only the carers, not the management)
Cons
Management do not care about staff needs.

Okay care provider
Night Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Witney - 14 December 2022
An okay care provider, what you’d expect from a corporation. Not very personal with staff, all seem to be part of the machine. Management are not very supportive and training is often late or not done
Pros
Nice shift pattern
Cons
Limited managerial aupport

Housekeeper
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Wallingford, Oxfordshire - 11 December 2022
I was a bank house keeper at osjct, West gate It’s a lovely place to work and the staff and residents are lovely but if you need to work bank due to child care and still needing an income I won’t recommend jt, They said I had no shifts for over a month and financially I can’t afford that but they still advertised for bank staff so it’s confusing as they employ bank staff but not think of the staff they already have
Pros
Lovely job and staff
Cons
No work

Awful management
Care Leader (Former Employee) - Purton, Wiltshire - 4 December 2022
Managers not following procedure… never report medication errors. Always put pressure on all staff! Never enough staff and expect you to get a resident up in 5 minutes. Not person centred care. Never praise staff
Pros
Salary
Cons
No support
